Default Live Earth

Has officially begun.

Bravo's 22 hour coverage hasn't begun yet, but for those who have Universal's HD channel (such as Comcast subscribers), the fun has just begun. Shows in Australia and Japan have already started.

Default Sh$tty coverage Like Farmaid.

Hum.I wonder why the normal MTV networks are not carrying this special.
They rather stick to their SH$T reality programing.they have to put the show on high class over priced digital cable.comcast sucks by the way.I.m glad their are not my isp.

wev'e tuned in here and there off and on, during the day..seen a bit of the tokyo concerts as well (it was insane, there was a very heavy metal band on- they were Japanese, and the whole audience were NOT moving! All sitting perfectly still..haha crazy...) anyway, I do have to question the timing of both this event and last weeks Diana concert, in that it seems the Brits are almost a bit blase, about seeing yet another big musical thing in Wembley so soon after the other. It's almost like a non-event, like the reason for it is almost lost and alot of people are saying theyr'e only there for the music. I do wonder if having a concert was a good idea or whether having too many of these things are making people complacent. Handing out 1 energy efficient lightbulb to every household might make more of an impact perhaps (if that were possible).

I am watching it now on UHD and Fergie was just on. She was really good. I like her. The dude from Black Eyed Peas is performing some new song now. I am really looking forward to seeing Madonna, Genesis, Bon Jovi, Kelly Clarkson, Police, Dave Matthews, John Mayer and many others. I hope they will rerun this since its likely I wont be home all day.

Question

I started watching when I got back from the beach around 3 p.m. EST. So I guess I missed Genesis if they were on this a.m. Does anybody know if there is a schedule of who is going to perform when? I'm looking forward to Kelly Clarkson (despite the fact that she cancelled her tour on me) & Sheryl Crow.

I have been watching off and on and I hate to say it, but is it just me or has this been one of the most boring "awareness" concerts? I loved Melissa and a couple others, but overall, it's just been kinda blah.

The crowd doesn't seem to be into everyone. They didn't really seem into Kelly Clarkson, but they really like Bon Jovi. But of course that's because they are from NJ.

Even though I found her songs and sermons to be interminable, I give Melissa E. much credit for being political. It was kind of hilarious to hear her give her political diatribes and they'd cut to shots of three girls wearing designer sunglasses doing some dirty dancing with one another.

Hey guys! I'm fried, but I had a blast!

You guys are right, the crowd wads DEAD for at least the first hour. It took Akon to warm them up at least. The reception for Kelly was a good one tbh, lots of people dancing, singing/screaming (me ). And Kanye was a good setup for the rest. Bon Jovi was like singing kareoke essentially. And Smashing Pumpkins blew me away. Like, I was in awe. Roger and The Police were sweeeeeeet too. But really, my favorite besides the Police and Pumpkins was Melissa Etheridge. She brought so many emotions out of everyone there, I've never seen anything like it. I was glad she didnt just play and leave like the rest. But overall the show was great, the weather was great, I got a nice tan, and I was reeeeally close to the stage too. And, tbh, I cant hear much. Oh well. It was worth it.

Random Notes: (not that anyone gives a fook)

BEST AGED: Simon LeBon of Duran Duran. He looks great and hasn't lost one iota of his voice. I'll have what he's having.

BIGGEST DISAPOINTMENT: Genesis. For a band whose sound was so big in it's heydyay, it seemed that the stage swallowed them today.

BEST FLASHBACK: The inflatable pig during Roger Waters set. I think I may actually remember a few more miliseconds now of the last Pink Floyd show I saw.

BEST HIDDEN: Madonna. Two songs? Did I miss something?

LEAST HIDDEN: Melissa Ethridge. For the first seven or eight minutes I thought someone had turned me loose on the microphone. After the rest of the song, I think Melissa's FBI file has just grown exponentially and her tax returns are about to be audited. Loved the message that we are one.

MOST INTRIGUING STAGE WEAR: KT Tunstall in those gold lame' leggings and Anthony Keidis (Red Hot Chili Peppers) in his cape (?).

FAVORITE SURPRISE MOMENT: Duran Duran busting out Sly Stone's I Want To Take You Higher during Notorious.

MOST HEARTWARMING: Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) performing his hit songs. It was incredible to hear him play Wild World and Peace Train, two songs that remain relevant today. I'm so glad that he has found his way around to doing these songs again. He seemed genuinely happy while playing them.

BEST PERFORMANCE: This is a tie. You've got to give it up for the Jersey boys, Bon Jovi. The Meadowlands seemed to shake with applause at their appearance. They put their whole heart into this and sounded great. I'm still a little worried about Richie though.

The Beastie Boys. They fookin' rocked. Nothing else to say there.

The Police. The last of the great power trios. Three guys are out there with no fancy bells and whistles (in fact Sting's bass looked older than he did) just laying it down old school. I love Andy Summers John McVie like stage presence. Stewart Copeland plays drums as though it's his last day on earth. And if you get bored with that, well you can always watch Sting's biceps.
