Default “I won’t join without Stevie”: FULL TRANSCRIPT!

K: Mick Fleetwood wants you two to join Fleetwood Mac.

L: Well, I won’t join without Stevie.

K: Actually, he wants both of you.

L: Well, I don’t want to play Peter Green songs.

S: Really? You’d have me continue waitressing and cleaning houses instead of half-assing it on pentatonic scales for a few songs?

L: But I’m an artist and...

S: AT WHAT?!? I’m schlocking cheeseburgers and cleaning this asshole’s house to keep us afloat while you and Richard get stoned and screw around on the four track!!!

L: And I love you for that, but I...

S: So help me God, I’ll emasculate you if we don’t join that band!!’

L: But I...

S: Keith, get me a needle...

K: Okay...

L: Alright, we’ll give them six months. Okay?

S: Thanks, sweetie!!!

What I enjoy most from this website these days is the sense that I feel normal and sane. Some of the behavior on this site is extreme if not ridiculous.

Funny to read Stevie getting all mad at Lindsey because he was getting stoned while she was BY FAR the person with more addictions in the band (including the doll phase )

Fan fiction indeed.

That’s certainly how it played out. Early in their relationship, Christine was a heavier drinker than John, too.

This thread is as great as a dream setlist thread.
Is the transcript to suggest that Lindsey should've have had a job(s) with a paycheck too? Maybe he could've worked as a cashier in a grocery store rather than the agreement he had with Stevie where she worked in service & then cooked for Lindsey and herself & he stayed at home during the day working out the music.

She said multiple times that it was HER choice to have two jobs to support themselves while he stayed at home working on THEIR music. Did he work on their music all the time? No.

Was she the Queen of cleaning and cooking? No. She wasn't exactly Betty Crocker. Even Keith Olsen said she didn't do much of a cleaning anyway….

He should have left her when he had the chance, pre joining FM.

$he'd be a retired waitress, now.

She would still be eating hamburger helper if Lindsey had not put the electric skillet on the stove

$he would!!!

I seriously don't think $he's smart enough to successfully dial a phone number.

Edit - why did he put the electric skillet on the stove?

Oh, I get it.... *eyeroll*

Yes, she CHOSE to work so he could hone his craft, but after getting dropped and having no viable path forward, that he even had to think about it really wasn’t fair to her (and Keith, for that matter). Here was a golden opportunity for both of them to have legitimate work in a band on a major label where gender wasn’t an issue, and his instinct wasn’t to simply go for it. He put his dreams (and possible insecurities) ahead of their joint best interests. It’s no wonder she started plotting a solo career as early as 1976.

He wouldn’t have joined without her pushing him into it.

As far as Lindsey's "dreams," Stevie has said that she & Lindsey would've made it in music if they didn't join Fleetwood Mac. She often phrases that belief in the context of "the simmering of Buckingham Nicks in the South," where they played to 5,000 persons in a concert. She said they probably would've had many kids. She said she sometimes thinks about if life had gone that way.

On the plotting of her solo career, she said at her Induction Ceremony that the solo career planning started in 1979 and then she did the act of whispering to Paul Fishkin to be discreet about making a solo album.
