Oh no, another topical song! It's fun to imagine how she would insinuate herself into the lyric, somehow associating her life with the Kennedy legacy.

The song is so out of character for her it wouldn't fit with any of the other songs unless she decided to do an album of standards. That would be interesting and at this point I can honestly say anything is possible.

Anyone who lived through that time can associate with Camelot...

Here is the interview btw

Q: 24 Karat Gold could easily have a Part 2 or 3 because of the number of demos you have. What would you include on it?

A: I think that this is one of the best records I’ve ever made. So I can’t just let this record go. When the Fleetwood Mac tour is over, I might go straight back to Nashville and record eight or nine songs, and Warner Brothers can take it and repackage the album. I have another 10 demos. There’s a song that’s called City of Hope that I love that needs to go out because that’s [the name of the California-based hospital] Robin was in. I spent a lot of time driving through the big sign that says “City of Hope” when there was no hope. With a bottle of brandy and a gram of cocaine, thinking, “Please God, don’t let her die.”

Q: You also have a song about JFK. Is it on your list of possibilities to record for the second volume of 24 Karat Gold?

A: I’ll probably do that, too. It’s called The Kennedys. That was about a strange dream I had about meeting the Kennedy men, at a cocktail party benefit in the Hamptons. I went in to play the piano and sing [for the party] and Martin Luther King walked me down the hallway. It has this amazing part that I just think would fit with the world right now: “Please God, show them the way. Please God, on this day. Spirits all gather round. Peace will come if you really want it. Peace will come if you fight harder. I think we’re just in time to save it.” I’m ready for Jack Kennedy’s dreams. I’m ready for there to be somebody leading the country that somehow puts some kind of a respect and charisma into things … basically the same thing that Clinton had.

I cringed when she first talked about this and I cringe reading it here.

This has embarrassing written all over it.

It sure does! However,I have a twisted obsession with the songs she writes that have reference real people and events-- Greta, Desert Angel, Jane, and Battle of the Dragon come to mind. Instead of becoming signature anthems closely associated with their subject matter, they just end up being unique or peculiar obscure editions to her song catalog.

Naming a song about the Kennedys 'The Kennedys" is blatantly lazy and not very creative. Camelot is a better song title. She talks a lot about things that are never realized. I hope this song gets developed and released. I don't expect it to be a masterpiece, but it would be oddly entertaining.

If SFTV part 2 does in fact come to fruition, do you guys think she'll revisit the Polaroid "selfie" theme for the album artwork or do you think she'll choose another creative path?

I would personally LOVE the concept of either having the artwork to be all of her drawings, paintings and artistic endeavors...or maybe just filled with those colorful hand-tinted black and white photos that she was obsessed with doing for a long time.

I hope she picks all her atmospheric songs, plus some rockers...

Night Gallery
Maker of Birds
Forest of Black Roses
Foresaken Love
Space Needle
Have a Heart
Cecilia
Joan of Arc
Malacine
Love You Enough
China Doll
Baby Doll

Now this is a true Stevie Nicks album!!!!!!!!! I would buy 50 copies.

I dont think it is embarrassing. It sounds like she had a dream and woke up and wrote a song about it. What is so horrible about that? No one is going to think that it really happened or anything. To me it just shows the artist in her. She has never been someone who writes everyday songs.

The Polaroids are great. I would love to see some of her artwork. She may also choose to pay tribute to Herbie. He took all of the photos that she had tinted, I think.

I agree. We haven't even heard the song yet.

I'd like to add Chanel Chanel and Something Exquisite to the imaginary tracklisting.

But we do have the poem she wrote...

The Kennedy’s

I had a fragile dream
In a great house in the Hamptons
I’d been there before
Singing songs ~ doing benefits
I was in a room alone
Putting on my make-up
Like so many things have come to me,
The dress ~ came across the Persian carpet~
As I fell into the dress
A thought came to me
Into my heart~
“I have a dream”
And a door opened~
It’s time now~ they’re waiting
I turned around to face the music (the dreamers)
“I’m ready for the Kennedy’s~”

I don’t know if it was 1960 or 1963
Everything was timeless ~ even me
I wasn’t old~ I wasn’t young~
I was just ~ part of the dream.
A shadow walked with me ~ down the hall
It was Martin Luther King~
All in shadow ~ all before me
Overwhelmed by destiny
Someone said, “sing us a song”
“There’s the piano..
And handed me a drink~
The room was full of hope~
A song would set them free…

I sat at the piano
I stared at the shadows
I sang the words “I have a dream”
He wasn’t my old friend John ~ I didn’t know him…then
But he smiled at me
And I sang these words
“What ever it takes to be free”
I didn’t know these men~
But they knew me~

It was all symbolic,
Nothing was as it seemed.
They all left us in a single shot~
But they didn’t take the dream.
They were there in that house,
Discussing the future~
Drinking champagne.
I was just the piano player~
The voice ~ part of their dream.
I was 35 ~ or maybe I was 15~
It was just a night in the presence
Of Martin Luther King~
I was just a dreamer;
I was ready for the Kennedys…

I got up from the piano
I bowed my head
As I walked thru the room
They touched my hands
Write about hope and a change of plan~
Light up the world if you can~

Light the fire ~ start it over
Tell the world about the dream
Change the world ~ begin again
Start it up ~ make it real~
Back in the room where it all began
My heart began to hurt~

I remember the beauty of the Hamptons
The shadows playing in the sun
And a voice said “The dream is not over~”
“The dream has just begun~”
I spun around to another shadow
Slipping through the door~
My eyes opened ~ wide …
What is all this for?
The shadows said ~ “Don’t forget ~”
“What we were fighting for…”
