Correct. The ones that are demos (Blue Turns to Grey, Steve's Riff, Given Thing, possibly Deep Dense) weren't included in the album's track list as of summer 2001, when the album was aborted for the final time. The others are all unmastered (but mixed) tracks for that final album.

That site that hosted the Gift Of Screws tracks unfortunately no longer exists.

Actually, the site that first hosted the MP3s is still up: The Underground. But she has other goodies up nowadays.

I wish it did though because I can't stand to see fans ripped off on eBay.

"Gift of Screams" really seems to be a cash cow for somebody, but I don't know whom. But bear in mind it's MP3-sourced, regardless of what that seller says.

Again, there is no "Miranda" demo in circulation -- it's the "Gift of Screws" track, circa 2001. Earlier in the thread, Brian J. posted the link to the EasyTree torrent, which has the best available GOS tracks online.

Of the ones that I have heard, I also think that Down On Rodeo and Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind are my favourites. They deserve to be released in proper sound quality. Can you hear me Annie? ;-)
I remember Try For the Sun sounding like another SayYou Wil track with different lyrics, but I don't remember which one. Can you help me out on that one? Thanks.

Right, that's closer if we're talking beginnings. All those songs must be examples of what he means by the guitar doing more work, but it's really him doing less composing, cuz they all sound too much alike.

I know youre just joking, but you could argue that there's more composing involved in that style because you have to work out the guitar arrangement, which is far more intricate & complex, tonally & rhythmically, than usual -- even for him.

People have the usual bias that "composing" is writing lyrics only, & that just ain't true. Every time youre concocting a guitar part or a bass part or even a keyboard part, youre composing (unless youre just ad libbing a part in the studio for a track, which happens too, like the Rhodes on GDW)
