Exclamation Earthquake in Kent!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/6602677.stm

Just saw this. So bizarre as we so rarely get earthquakes in UK.

I hope everyone in Kent is OK, and hopefully Chris and her family didn't have too much property damage.

that's a REALLY small earthquake. the reason there was any damage at all is because most of the buildings are so old in the area.
an earthquake the same size in california would barely stop people in their tracks. i'm sure Chris laughed it off and went back to her gardening/wine-drinking/needle point.

And that street in the picture doesn't look like chris' neighbourhood.

bad enough for those people though....

Yeah. I didn't want to be alarmist, but we never get them here, and I found it supremely ironic that Chris moved away from LA partly because she hated the tremors!

You're right, she's probably out gardening in the sunshine or something, blissfully unaware!

I don't know how close Folkestone & Dover are to where Chris lives. Maybe Gail will check in & let us know. This was a pretty small earthquake, although it might have shaken up her dogs though. After leaving California, I'm sure she never thought she'd ever have to worry about earthquakes again.

Christine lives about 20-25 miles north/north west of Folkstone.

It looks like the epicentre was off the channel coast so I doubt if Christine would have been affected.

You travel half way across the world to get away from earthquakes and then one pops up in your back yard. Ironic or what?

I know. They just seem to be following her.

I'm sure she wasn't affected if she was 20-25 miles away. Still, that is a bit too close. I'm glad that no one was seriously hurt.

I'm sure Chris has felt some big ones in LA.

George W. Bush has to be the cause of this one. Everything else that's bad is his fault, so why not this.

Seems fair enough to me

Although it could have been Tony Blair

Does anyone know where in Kent Christine lives ? It's a beautiful part of the world to live. By the way they played one of her songs from her last cd on radio 2 this morning - it was really good song. Don't know whey she didn't release it as a single.
