Default Ft. Lauderdale :)

I have never sat in the front row for a concert in my life! I got to sit so close to Lindsey that I could see the blue in his eyes A very nice girl who was also in the front row traded seats with me b/c she wanted to sit next to her friends, so I ended up being even closer to center (THANK YOU!!)

Anyway, Lindsey seemed relaxed, in good spirits~ LOVED the new drummer! In Lindsey's words, he "kicked ass". One new thing~ Lindsey did "Turn it on"!! He did OOTC! The venue was perfect and the stage was about waist high. The crowd didn't stand until the usual time around GYOW, but a bunch of us stood after each song. He tended to stay in one area for the GYOW "guitar sharing" b/c there was one dude that was flipping out and I think Lindsey thought he was funny! lol He said something at the beginning about how some people in the crowd probably knew that he had wanted to do this extensive solo touring thing for a long time and how happy he was that we came. The venue seated about 1000 and was almost full.

He seemed to recognize a few people in the front row~ like they had been to a lot of shows or something Someone also held up the article that was in the Palm Beach Post yesterday b/c there was a big headline "LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM" and a big picture on the front. He seemed surprised when he saw the size of it (I was too!)

He was magnificient! I'm going to Ft. Pierce on Sunday too

I was very sad to hear about Taku not being on this leg but happy to hear that the new drummer is awesome. Only problem, my hubby is going to the Toronto show with me, because he loves Taku and I haven't had the heart to tell him yet that he won't be there

Concert Review: Lindsey Buckingham at the Parker Playhouse
By Leslie Gray Streeter
Palm Beach Post Music Writer
http://www.palmbeachpost.com/accent/...gham_0310.html

Saturday, March 10, 2007

If the several standing ovations, hoots, loud clapping and unfettered cheering were any indication, the audience at the Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale thoroughly enjoyed Lindsey Buckingham's fantastic show on Thursday.

But arguably, no one had a better time than Lindsey Buckingham. The once-and-future Fleetwood Mac auteur, currently touring in support of his solo album Under the Skin, was a one-man joy factory. There has always been an artistic intensity about him, bubbling up under his focused gaze and mass of dark curls.

Now in his late 50s, with gray spreading vibrantly through his hair and the drama of youth given way to personal happiness, he's intense and giddy: Each percussive thwack on his guitar, each rhythmic grunt, each gone-for-broke rockin' out moment wailing on the strings with the dudes in the front row was followed with a bow and a deeply grateful nod.

"I've been waiting quite a while to do this," Buckingham said, beaming, after slamming through his first four songs. "I'm just happy to be here."

Appropriately, the set's first song, the thoughtful Not Too Late, is about living up to your own potential and refusing to set it aside for someone else's benefit, an obvious reference to his determination to exist as an artist outside the realm of his supergroup.

Under the Skin was more than adequately represented, from the title track to the sweet It Was You, about his relationship with his wife.

But Buckingham's earlier work, including the best of his Fleetwood Mac songs, were on the agenda as well. After the fetchingly moody Trouble, from his 1981 solo album, he and his band started thumping out a beat that turned out to be Fleetwood Mac's Second Hand News, perfect and upbeat down to the soaring refrain.

From there, it was on to the cynical Red Rover, from the Mac's most recent album Say You Will, and a most excellent Big Love. The crowd favorites appeared to be the ever-blithely bitter Go Your Own Way, and the big and crazy Tusk, which replaced the USC marching band for some creative keyboard and drum work.

During the encore, Buckingham threw in the rollicking Holiday Road, which turned into a sing-along ("Holiday ro-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-ohd"), and the lovely acoustic Shut Us Down, which begins "You and I, we sure can dream."

And Buckingham was right — he and the audience had formed, for that evening, a unit, and nobody seemed to want to leave. The best parties, of course, are always like that.
