Shipper?
Ok, I have been meaning to post this question for a while now. I know shippers are fans who want SN and LB to be together, but how did the term "shipper" come about?
I think I missed the memo on this one.

Isn't it derived from Relationship?

I read it was derived from "relationship"... hence the term, "shipper".

It's not solely applied to Stevie and Lindsey "shippers":
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shipping_(fandom) However, the archives of the newsgroup X-files show that the word "shipper" was already in established use among fans of The X-Files as early as May 1996 [1]— just three months after the first Pokémon games were released in Japan. The TRUTH is out there. |

I had not heard this term before!!
I was listening to Buckingham Nicks the other day- and it really got me thinking about how S and L were really a couple there for awhile. Presumable a happy one.

ahhh, makes sense now, duh, why didn't I think of that? (hitting my hand on my forehead)
Gotta admit SN and LB have a relationship that great legends and stories are made of.

We'd say "shipper" and "noromo" (for those who wanted/saw no romance) but I guess the "noromo" never caught on.

Alterntively it could come about from everyone being so over the whole relationship thing that we wanted to ship them off somewhere to sort it out

Don't feel bad...I knew what the term meant, but didn't know where it came from either!
