But remember that 30!!!!(god, kill me now) years ago, they decided that they needed backup singers, and keyboard players hidden behind curtains (fact). So they've been playing with hidden human tracks for 3 decades.

And I'm also tired lately of him taking so much credit for the shaping of the songs and doing things "for" Christine and Stevie. Okay, we get it, you're the producer. But his insistence on playing up his contributions in this regard actually have the opposite effect: it makes him seem like an insecure child who constantly needs to build up his own worth. Christine's acceptance of this occasionally seems like the she is pacifying him, and that she has an inner strength neither he nor Stevie possess, one in which humility trumps the need for constant recognition. |

You know it. Stop talking about how magical this all is and show us the magic. Part of the problem is the songs were built up piece by piece in the studio, and not, presumably, recorded live--the way, say, Christine's 1984 solo album was. Instead, like the songs from ITM and any number of LB's solo records, the music has to be learned for live performance. I'm not entirely convinced LB and CM are ready yet to play them entirely live. If so, they have themselves to blame: they've had years to practice these songs in-between the giant world tour.

Christine and Lindsey are very aware of Stevie's ongoing complaints about Lindsey in this regard. Because of the constant put downs I think they've made a conscious effort to support each other. Unlike Stevie, Christine has enough confidence in herself to be able to compliment Lindsey without worrying about her own worth to this project or any other. |
