Madonna - Hard Candy (Yes/No/Unsure)

So far, I'm Unsure.
Favorite song is probably Miles Away, based on just two listens.
American Life wasn't immediate for me either, but it won me over.

I'm not sure if I am going to buy this album. The lead single "4 Minutes" didn't impress me too much. It was just okay for me. I bought her other album from 2005 Confessions on the Dance Floor because I just couldn't get enough of "Hung Up" and "Sorry".

I am DYING to get this album I can not wait. Even though I am sorry it won't be a COAD pt 2 (I LOOOVED that album) I am still anticipating good things. Ofcourse w/ Madge too, it seems like every other album is a success, so maybe HC won't be so swell...naw, it's just gotta be! lol

I'm digging it so far. It's quite a sonic adventure. Not sure how the public at large will react to it, but Hard Candy is easily one of the most innnovative mainstream albums of the year. My faves are Give It 2 Me, Heartbeat, Dance2Night, and Voices.

The rest of the album is actually quite different from the first single 4 Minutes.

I won't listen to any leaks. I am looking forward to buying it; I already have the song titles memorized along with what track number they are.

To clarify, my copy is not a "leak," but a press copy that I received along with a Hard Candy promotional package that included a bag of actual candy. The source of the recent internet leak was very likely a press/review copy since they were deliverd to primary outlets on Friday & Saturday. (I am also hosting a CD release party on May 2. http://www.edgeboston.com/index.php?ch=edgeatnight )

Warner has a released a streaming package of 45-second clips of each song.

The best remixes of 4 Minutes are "Peter Rauhofer Saves Paris," "Peter Rauhofer Saves NY," and "Edson Pride Saves the World Remix." There are also remixes by Marcos Castellon, Bob Sinclar and Tracy Young.

I really like it... It isn't anything like Confessions which I seriously think is her best album (I really loved every track on that cd). But yeah, this is definately ear candy... and I like the fact on a couple of the tracks, they completely change direction mid-way through. The only song that I didn't like right off the bat was the spanish one. But it's really good stuff...

And I haven't heard the "Peter Saves NY" remix... but I've heard the others... Liked the "...Saves Paris" version.

I'm liking the video "4 Minutes" so far. I didn't get it at first, but I did after I saw Madonna interviewed about it. She said that she wanted to convey, in a fun way, the power of music to change the world, and the responsibility of the artist to use the power of music for good (but also to entertain at the same time). That clicked for me, I "got" that.

(I'm kinda paraphrasing what she said but i.m.o. that's the long and the short of it.)


I think she's also decided that the word "billion" has a very nice ring to it.
i.m.o. she's going to be there by February of next year.

By the way, it seems to me that she's VERY concerned with time lately. "Four minutes to save the world;" "I haven't got much time to waste, it's time to make my way;" "Time goes by so slowly for those who wait - no time to hesitate;" etc.

Good point about the "Time". I have been listening to the album off of Myspace. So far it has been better than I expected. I'm liking it! I think I'm gonna buy it!

I just downloaded it from iTunes! I will be going to the gym in a bit, and I plan on listening to the whole thing on the treadmill! Hopefully it will be the best workout ever!
