You know that The Decemberists covered Think About Me right? I think it's fair to say there's an influence and they are fans.

I've said it before, I'll say it again

Florence Welsh (Florence and the Machine) has some serious Stevie undertones both in her lyrics and definitely her live performances.

I'm sorry.. I am adament that this is 1977 Rhiannon influenced..

Although not really a modern day indie band I am very fond of the Smashing Pumpkins cover of 'Landslide.' Its very good.

Whether it's a cover song, a similarity in style, let's talk about it here. Obviously there's Bat for Lashes where singer Natasha Khan has openly cited Stevie as a great influence. Or the band Midlake who's album The Trials of Van Occupanther exudes the rhythm of John & Mick. Anyway here's a few things to get the conversation started.

Beach House (I can't say enough about this band).
beach house
Singer Victoria Legrand's use of dark & mysterious imagery in her lyrics is somewhat reminiscent of Stevie.

This song was written on a train ride through the mountains for a television show in Oslo.

"Heart of Chambers" from 2008's "Devotion"

New song from the upcoming album "Teen Dream"

Midlake

Do I even have to say anything about "Roscoe"?

Bat for Lashes

Also, this is nowhere near indie, however it fits the conversation. It's John Mayer's song featuring Taylor Swift called "Half of My Heart." Heavy FM influence (it's not as bad as you may think) Give it a listen.
Okay..the John Mayer song is a little boring but the guitar totally sounds TITN and BTM to me...so I hear the Mac sound he's trying to convey.... And the Beach House...Love, love her voice! The first song is really neat and I see what you mean about dark sounding...her voice is also reminicent of Stevie's a little...though she's nowhere near as cute in the physical department! The 2nd song..Heart of Chambers is a little more late 60's sounding to me.. a little more Jefferson Airplane sounding or something of that nature..a little weird.

On the topic of Midlake, I've always found Head Home their most Fleetwood Mac-esque song. The beginning sort of reminds me of Sara, I really can't explain why. The guitar solo definitely reminds me of Lindsey's style of playing - that sort of repititive, almost roaring sound he creates. It's a fantasic song on its own merits, though.

This was posted on Beach House's Twitter yesterday. Amazing.

Girl Talk listed his favorite live sets of the year & one was Fleetwood Mac! Check it out...

Fleetwood Mac: Pittsburgh @ Mellon Arena
This was the only show of the year that I attended with my parents. There were no openers and it was an older crowd, so the atmosphere seemed slightly stiff when they walked out on stage 15 minutes late. But they got everyone fired up immediately; old women were jumping out of their seats. It was mostly a greatest-hits sort of evening, but they also broke out some deeper cuts, like "Storms" from Tusk. My personal favorite of the night was their live-classic "Landslide".

Lloyd, I'm Ready To Be Heartbroken by Camera Obscura sounds like Belle & Sebastian doing Say You Love Me...

An article I was just reading on Paste about Prince not wanting anyone to cover his songs led to me to this...the Atlas Sound cover of "Walk A Thin Line" mentioned earlier in this thread. I dig it.
