Something about Book of Love that is so intense. I love that song.

I'd say that's my favorite Lindsey song off the album. Was that released as a single? I forget.

No. I think Hold Me, Gypsy, Love In Store and Oh Diane were singles.

For me, I was at the height of my fandom when it came out.

(I've said it before...)
I'll never forget riding around with my older friends driving, and the piano intro for Hold Me would come on, and I'd scream at everyone to STFU, and CRANK THE DAMNED RADIO!!!! I was never so excited to hear ANYTHING in my entire life. So Mirage holds a very special place in my heart.

I probably even like Oh Diane then!!! Actually, I did...

Mine was the White album. My introduction to FM was Over My Head. That song and the album it came from holds a very special place in my heart. Always will. Still my favorite FM album. Maybe that's why. It's when we fell in love. Still remember when I saw them perform for the first time. The Midnight Special! Damn, I was hooked! Obsessed!! Everyone has their special FM introductions they hold dear.

I played in my first "band" in 8th grade, in my friend's basement. Not a real band, but 4-5 of us doing the best we could at that point.

We did Over My Head, but at that point I wasn't completely obsessed. Rumours was when music overtook my life. As sick of Rumours as I am now, I owe(and blame) it all on Rumours! I taught myself guitar and keyboards(and drums) through my Rumours obsession. I guess because I burned myself out on Rumours(after I believe 10 copies - 5 8-tracks 1 album, 2 cassettes, 2 CDs). Tusk and Mirage mean more to me, now.

Book of Love, Can't Go Back and Eyes of the World are great.

Empire State and Oh Diane, not so much.

Oh yeah, Eyes of the World is a favorite too. So I retract my previous statement that all of Lindsey's Mirage songs sucked.

I don't get the Empire State hate. Those harmonies swirling around sound so much like you listened to them after you sucked the fumes out of a NYC taxi cab tail pipe. I loved it then and now. I also LOVE Mystified, those harmonies are sublime and that solo is so melodic. The song is a sleepy tropical dreamlike song. Hey it's not rocking but I like mood songs too.

I love whatever instrument that is, too. I forget. I think Mick gave it to him. Some strange "thumb hammer" instrument or something(hey, I knew what it was when it came out! ).

I like the album vocal(very processed) much more than the outtakes vocal(which was shocking- when I first got the Mirage boxed set).

Mystified (which I oddly link to Only Over You - same type of song) took a long time to grow on me, but(both) eventually did. You know, like 20 years later.

There is no comparison of Only Over You vs Mystified
OMG are you kidding me!!!!

Mystified is a computer generated mash of music and vocals. It has some great harmonies. The lyrics are pretty basic. Only Over You has amazing guitar playing and we actually hear Christine play keyboards. Christine sings how out of her mind is for someone (Dennis) yet she is not a fool. Its sort of the pretext for Ask Anybody. The song climaxes to quite a jam session. Something that the entire album of Tango never had.
Yet there you go again wanting to compare chess to hungry hungry hippos.
Clearly no comparison at all.

While I thought Lindsey's songs sounded great and were hookey and had great harmonies, I thought they sounded too fifties. I really did not like Oh Diane. If I wanted a fifties song I would have tuned into the oldies station.
