I remember listening to Say You Will with bated breath wondering if the music was going to be a big let down. Half way through WTWCT I relaxed and thought 'this is okay, if the rest is like this -that'll do' (though its not the best album and there's plenty to criticise, I'm still satisfied with it and most certainly glad it was made).
As an opener I'd put it in the same mould as Monday Morning and Second Hand News.
I still don't get it either. WTWCT > Empire State at the very least. ;-) It's an AOR song from the 2000s, and it fits the mold of the band more so than Come, although I like that the band delved into some hard rock there. Maybe everyone had their hopes up for a Monday Morning-, Second Hand News-, or Big Love-level of opening. That's not possible *all* the time as much as we may want it.

Sorry John and Elle, I'm with Fuzzy. WTWCT is one of my (few) favorite songs on SYW. SYW as a whole though, is a hole. They should act as though it's BTM, or Time. Because it blow goats. No, not that one...

Well, its nice to be loved.
I'm not for one minute saying its as good as Monday Morning or Second Hand News, just that it's in the same sort of vein as an opener. That's to say its a jaunty, uptempo Lindsey song (for some reason, although I'd bracket it with MM and SHN, I don't think it sits the same as Big Love). I don't think it's a great song, but its not bad. Certainly when I started playing Say You Will I half expected worse. It doesn't deserve such vitriol. Perhaps Peacekeeper could have opened the album though.

I'm not speaking to you for a week or so. What's the World coming to?

Nothing ever changes, you know it doesn't.
