Lou Reed made Susan Boyle cry over 'America's Got Talent' refusal
Former Velvet Underground man refused to let her sing 'Perfect Day'
September 9, 2010 Lou Reed has reportedly refused to let Susan Boyle sing his song 'Perfect Day' on the America's Got Talent TV show – resulting in Boyle leaving the USA. According to TMZ.com, Boyle arrived in Los Angeles today (September 9) to record the show, then found out at the last minute that Reed had not given permission for her to sing 'Perfect Day'. Boyle reacted by bursting into tears and heading to LAX to fly back to the UK, refusing to sing an alternative song for the show. Chiefs at America's Got Talent refused to comment. http://www.nme.com/news/lou-reed/52921 I'm laughing so hard at this. It's a combination of the thought of her actually singing Perfect Day and her leaving the US Oh deary me. |

I can't say I blame him at all really. I wouldn't want my music to be mauled across American television either, despite the suckyness that is that song anyway. Oh what happened to you after Velvet Underground, Mr. Reed?

I know that, deary :P I was referring to the fact that he was in such a state of mind that he felt it appropriate to release that dreck :s If that was bad the celebrity "compilation" a few years ago was even worse. Uck...that song brings back horrible memories.

Haha. I had an inkling that you were being sarcastic, but responding as such has led to bad situations on message boards hehe. People can be very intense when they're behind a computer screen. But back to topic, I don't like anything post Velvet Underground. It just never endeared itself to me. He can get as wacky as Peter Gabriel sometimes and it bugs me. And Peter is WIERD at times. Only have to listen to Games Without Frontiers to figure that out. And whoever told that guy that covering a frigging Regina Spektor song was a good idea?
