Lightbulb Streetcar Named...Fleetwood Mac!

Okay, my brain works OVERTIME when I am at work...too bad I don't get PAID for that overtime!! LOL I was thinking...doesn't FM remind you of Streetcar Named Desire?

Lindsey - Brooding/Handsome/Sexy/Mysterious - Stanley

Stevie - Drama Queen - Blanche

Mick - He can't have Blanche/sweaty (!! LOL) character - Mitch (even a similar name!!)

Christine - No nonsense kind of woman - Stella

John - Hmm...he could be the dude that fights with his wife all the dang time. LOL

Freaky, ain't it?

Phew, I thought I was the only one! I guess most Americans have seen it though.

But judging from what I've pieced together from Marlon Brando documentaries and that Simpsons episode where Marge plays Blanche, I definitely see what you mean!

Well I am glad to be the first to post as someone who has seen it! Yes, I agree. And I think a few years ago (maybe 95-ish) when I was exalting Stevie to a friend who was not anywhere near Ledgie level of fan, they remarked how "Blanche DuBois" she was, aging and vain, seldom seen...slowly going crazy or what once was.
Well, luckily she lost some weight, the Dance came along, and things turned around!

Default Well....

I can see what you're saying, but those people in that play are so friggin' messed up that I hesitate to compare them!

Stanley: sexist, brutish rapist (yes, young muscular Marlon Brando in that undershirt was hot, I give you that)

Blanche: nymphomaniac who goes mental, likes to hit on young boys because they remind her of her first husband, who killed himself after she discovered him with another man (whew)

Mitch: mamma's boy with a gland problem

Stella: lets Stanley beat her, so dependent on him she refuses to believe he raped her sister and so allows her sister to be carted off to a mental institution instead

John gets off well by getting compared to the loudmouth upstairs! lol

lmao! Yea, I see what you mean...but as Nancy pointed, the characters in Streetcar are a bit too extreme! (even for Mac standards!!)

But you know everytime I watch Seinfeld, I can't help but to think....Kramer....=.......

Stevie I can see being compared to Blanche, in the 80s. Now she seems so well adjusted. Blanche clings to illusions. She found life easier to live behind the various veils and dim lights. Stevie often sings with "long strands of white" clouding her memory. But in the end, there is truth and clarity in her music. I don't know if this make sense or am I just an out-of-control fan?

But LB to Brando? Can't see it. LB is too intellectual to be compared to primitive man Stanley. Stanley doesn't think. He only acts. LB thinks and thinks and thinks. LB maybe goes to therapy to talk. Stanley doesn't do that. Yeah, all in all, LB is the better man.

Exclamation OMG!! LOL

Okay, maybe I should have put a disclaimer that I wasn't digging THAT deeply into the story! LOL I know that LB is not like Stanley in the whole rapist, sexist thing...and Stevie doesn't hit on young men (does she? LOL) and stuff, I was just bored and my mind wandered...and it just hit me that FM kinda reminded me of those characters a tad...Anywho...tomorrow is radio day at work, and I'm takin' my brand spankin new Lindsey solo faves CD and...I dunno, haven't decided what else...so my mind won't wander. LOL

To all those who haven't seen this film...RENT IT NOW!!!!!! For Marlon Brando ALONE!!!!! LOL This is back when he was HOT!!

STELLA!!!!!!!!!!!!
