I adore his covers of September Song (hard song to sing) and Satisfied Mind. He also really seems to enjoy that era of music, the whole doo-wop of the 50's. |

I love Law and Order... the album and the show.....
Never understood why he would complain about FM being not masculine enough... I never thought his solo stuff was anywhere near masculine... yet i still loved it...

He's psychotic. Ok, his current tour rocks harder than his other 2 tours did, but if he thinks he is ever running around with a surplus of testosterone, he's crazy. There's something inherently feminine about his lush, layered, intricate production style and that's been true since the BN album . . . and there's nothing wrong with that. Michele

I love his cover of September Song, but I love Bryan Ferry's even more. Check out Ferry's sublime standards album "As Time Goes By" and even his Dylan covers album "Dylanesque" (the most beautifully produced album of last year... or ever?). Why would anyone buy Rod Stewart when Ferry and Buckingham exist?

That is a fantastic cover. I wish it would have made the record. They could have put is after "Steal Your Heart Away," which to me is a classic 1980's FM sound. Sort of the old then the new kind of thing.

I really like the new album - I think it's my favorite of his solo albums. The only real disappointment for me was on "The Right Place to Fade," where the high-pitched backing vocals on the chorus ("waitin' for the light that might light our way...") are mixed lower than on the demo. I miss hearing them more clearly, as it gave the song a slightly more addled feel. It's still probably my favorite song on the album though.
