Sadly, I've fallen behind as well, thanks to Facebook.

I watched Peyton Place the movie - it was ghastly.

I also tried to watch A Farewell to Arms. Apparently I've reached the end of my ability to tolerate watching streaming movies on my laptop because I couldn't get through it. Could have something to do with being interrupted by Facebook alerts! So I ordered a Roku which will arrive next week and I should be back to my old movie-watching self, only it will be from the comfort of my recliner and not my desk!

Have you seen this movie? If so, would you say you identify with the representation of it?

Table For Three
Horrible!

Half-Life
Um....horrible, horrible!!!

Surveillance
Starring Julia Ormond. This
crime thriller was a dud. I fast
forwarded through the last half.
Yes, it was that bad.

This Is It
Hard to criticize a dress rehearsal, but with
all the praise about this movie I expected better.
No close ups of course, and no moon walk! Well,
maybe a step or two. I thought the most telling
part was when Michael made the excuse of saving
his voice at one point in the movie. One would
imagine that the excuse was for AEG the concert
promoter. If their representatives were present
(or were going to see the video) I'm sure they
would have been worried about their investment.
It does leave you wondering what might have been.

Not a movie, but just finished watching season 3 of The Tudors on DVD.

Show is flagrantly historically inaccurate, but I don't care because the dude they have playing Charles Brandon is sex on a stick. Every time he walks into frame, I end up doing that slack-jawed Homer Simpson drooling thing.

Mmmm chainmail.

Well it's dead middle of winter and I got a Roku installed, so I've gone from 1 movie a week to like 6...

The Apartment: Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine 1960 - Really funny movie with a cute story line of a guy who "sublets" his apartment to the guys at work in a feeble attempt to get ahead. Really liked this movie.

Georgy Girl: Young Lynn Redgrave plays an "overweight" social outcast type young gal who ends up with two guys vying for her charms. A very cheeky British comedy filmed in 1966. I've always enjoyed watching this movie simply because Lynn Redgrave's outcast type of character portrayal.

Set it Off: 1996 Queen Latifah, Vivica Fox, Jada Pinkett - girl thugs get tired of corporate BS and take to robbing banks. They all end up shot dead except Jada. Kinda sad.

Vertigo: Hitchcock's 1958 with James Stewart and Kim Novak. I had a hard time getting through this one this time.. probably because I've been battling a virus and streaming is more comfortable from the couch.

A Farewell to Arms: Still sitting out there, half-viewed. Guess I'm just not that into it.

This is It: I love watching and listening to Michael. You either love it or hate it... that's all.

Thanks, I won't bother with it. Good to know! That's why we do this, eh?

Yep, I saved you two hours of your life.

And on with the show......

Across The Hall
Another Brittany Murphy movie, it was pretty decent actually.

Two Lovers
Isn't this the movie that Joaquin Phoenix was promoting on
Letterman when he had his "fake" breakdown? I really enjoyed
this movie.

My One And Only
Though Renee Zellweger looked like she was sucking on lemons
during most of this movie, it was worth watching. George Hamilton's
childhood story....so they say.

Default Lilies of the field

I watched this with my eleven year old daughter who (obviously) had never seen it. What a great feel good movie - shot in two weeks with a total budget of $250,000 - it won Sidney portier his first oscar. Heart warming, funny poignant - they really don't make them like that anymore.

The Gary Cooper version?! It's not Borzage's best film, but Borzage is in my top ten greatest alltime filmmakers. It's very much worth seeing. The ending! Of course, I've never seen it on TV (only on the big screen), so I don't know how well it's visual power translates to the small screen.

Anyway, it's better than the book.

OH. And check out the Diane Keaton movie Because I Said So and the way that movie utilizes that great GREAT orgasm scene from A Farewell To Arms.

Amelia. Awful, awful, awful. I can't believe I was actually counting down the time and rooting for her plane would go into the water. How in the hell can one of the most important, strong, independent, passionate, accomplished women of the 20th Century be portrayed as this sappy, insipid, whining, dull, victimized woman? The only truly good thing about the whole flick was the fact it was beautifully shot, and the accents were enjoyable. Photography, sets, costumes, locations, etc were phenomenal... but not enough to save this very, very poor film.
