I just watched the tape of this last night. My first initial reaction is that for the first couple of songs, Lindsey appeared nervous. It's like he was frozen to one spot. He really loosened up towards the end with Go Your Own Way. I thought he sounded great. It kept throwing me when he'd say, "This is from the new CD." because Say You Will has been out for a few years. Then when Stevie came out, I thought that was the highlight. I just couldn't believe the way they kept staring at each other. Say Goodbye was definitely the highlight, very intense I thought. I could feel the emotion there. I don't know what Stevie was singing when she sang a few lines & then said that she forgot the rest & he said something about great harmony; was that a song from Buckingham/Nicks?

Yes, it was the first two lines from "Frozen Love."

Are there any mp3s about of this yet? You go to other fan sites and they're everywhere within an hour of shows airing.

Well, the Soundstage itself was taped over a year ago, as well. Say You Will WAS a "new" CD then.

I emailed my local PBS station and asked when/if Lindsey's Soundstage would be aired, since it was not on their schedule, and this was their reply:

"In answer to your inquiry, we broadcast the Soundstage Program with Lindsay Buckingham on July 23,2005."

I guess I'll be buying the DVD.

Well, now that I've watched it *several* times, here's what I thought:

My favorites were SGCYM, Red Rover, Murrow, and Down on Rodeo. This is actually the first time I've ever heard Down on Rodeo, and I absolutely love it! New song to play over and over and over....

I especially liked when he talked about the story behind Red Rover --"It's a pretty morbid thought, I know, but it's a tender song...nonetheless.." or something like that--and then he gives a really big grin...And then when he actually says the name of the song, "This one's called 'Red Rover'" I dunno, it just really seemed like he was extremely pleased with himself and the song...kind of giving off a boyish charm there. Really, that impression may be just mine...I wasn't there when it was taped or anything. Anyway, the sound on that song was impressive. I loved the blend of the "guys only" voices. Very nice/smooth. As a matter of fact, that's what I really liked about the entire show...hmmm words to describe it...warm, rich, deep, etc. No girls (yeah, I know, except for 2 songs, which were very nice, too, don't flame me for God's sake!) I think I'm just really burned out on the female back-up singer overkill from the SYW tour.

I think Lindsey was a little more uptight at the beginning of the show, but he loosened up eventually. That's pretty typical of him, really. I actually think it's adorable that he's a little unsure of himself....

I like the whole "semi-unplugged" feel that the show has. Brett, Taku, and Neal complemented Lindsey's songs very well, and I was really impressed with how much they added to it. I realize that I've probably had my head in the sand, but I had no idea they could harmonize like that...again...female back-up singer overload. And of course, I really like that it was just Lindsey and his music for a change. Again, don't flame me....I've seen Stevie solo plenty of times...we just don't get to see Lindsey in this setting as much, so this was a wonderful treat!

My least favorite song was GYOW. I would've liked him to drop this one for something from OOTC!

Ok, so as far as the whole stage set-up goes...I'd love to have a widescreen hanging in my den with that hawt picture of Lindsey on it and his name scrolling across the screen like those that were hanging at the back of the stage. Sweet.

Oh, and I did a little spaz dance when Stevie sang a couple of lines from "Frozen Love." That would've been cool if they'd done that one!

Um, oh yeah....and I didn't notice what she wore...didn't much give a s**t either.

Yay! That was my intention. I feel really bad for those of you who haven't been able to see it. I'm looking forward to when you all do get to see it, then we can discuss...

Ah, yes. I'm so glad that the focus was on him and not hip-swaying noise, etc. The music was very intense, but it had a very...hmmm..quiet quality, for lack of a better word. I'm supposing part of the reason for that is because they edited out the audience noise. Still, it was very intimate. Just the man and his music along with those 3 truly talented guys...it really is superb. I'm hoping you'll be able to see it soon. You will thoroughly enjoy it!

didn't a lot of the guys who did the Fleetwood Mac tour also do the Soundstage show?

Presumably, they all played the same gear. Where'd the differences come from?

There was something up, I know that. I heard "Trouble" & really liked the low-keyedness of it all, plus the little bit of reinvention going on: the chugga-chugga of the rhythm guitar (same riff pattern as "What's the World Coming To" on the tour), the dry little kick in the bass drum, like a heartbeat drives you mad ..., the bare keyboard tine pad .... this music breathes! It's like there's enough room in the rib cage for the lungs to expand. Your ears have positive & negative, music & metamusic, to hang onto.

How did -- or why did -- Fleetwood Mac turn into such a bombastic band?
