Tonight, I am giving myself the chance to wind down. Burning "contemplative" music and driving to the beach with nothing but a pen, a journal, Michael Ondaatje's The English Patient (best book EVER) and a collection of Billy Collins' poetry. Bye bye, cell phone-- let the much needed emotional purging again.

the ap questions kill me..but the SOLs are friggin easy as hell..
the highest i got on ap q's was a 76 or something

I'll be MIA until late Wednesday or early Thursday of this week. Tomorrow morning, I leave for a 3-day silent retreat that my school hosts for interested students. Basically, I get to live in a gorgeous huge house in the mountains for 3 days with no phone, music, internet, anything.... in total silence. It'll be really nice to just get away for a while.

Don't talk about anything too interesting when I'm gone!!

if only my school did something like this
but we cant because:
pwcs is completly broke
and alot of the "bops" in our school would definately come back pregnant lol
sad but its true

Keep in mind that I go to a Catholic school. We have to pay to go on this retreat and its a religious thing in many senses-- the retreat house is an old monastery. Most schools don't offer a program like this. I think we are really lucky to be able to go.

Last year, I went on the junior retreat that was held at a different facility and it was a much more communication-oriented thing. I absolutely adored that experience and my sources tell me that senior retreat is a thousand times more memorable, especially for "somebody like me" (?? don't know what that's supposed to mean but a teacher than I am very close to said it....)

No books or magazines either? With all those things and this I would go absolutely crazy. You might as well lock me in prison.

We can have books, no magazines. I'm bringing a journal obviously, and some Billy Collins/ee cummings/T.S. Eliot, too. But really, I'm excited for the lack of distraction. I need this retreat more than ever right now.... I feel like recently, both the best and worst aspects of my life have been accentuated, so this will be a good way to balance them out or something.
