Question Go Your Own Way post Lindsey 1987

Correct me if I am wrong but starting in 1987 post Lindsey's departure, Stevie started to sing the second verse with Billy. She never did this before, correct? I have never seen her do this on a Rumours, Tusk, or Mirage tour. Stevie continued to do it again on the BTM and Farewell tour. My hunch is Stevie was adding some of her magic to not make it sound like a cover song in concert since it was a Lindsey song.
Once Lindsey came back, Stevie continued the tradition continued. I remember being surprised Stevie sung the second verse again when Lindsey came back for the Dance. I wonder if Stevie and Lindsey ever had a conversation about this. As much as Stevie hated the shacking up line, she started to sing it.
Just an interesting observation how Lindsey's departure changed the dynamic live in concert.

Here is a 1987 clip of Stevie taking the second verse with Billy 1987

The earliest video I’ve seen her do it was the Indianapolis show in 1987. She didn’t do that on opening night in Kansas City. However, that’s how Fleetwood Mac has done it since. Even when Bekka Bramlett was in the lineup.

She does. She just comes in really late for the last few lines of the second verse. I think maybe opening night she remembered the change a little too late. Just an interesting tid bit of Mac history how Lindsey leaving changed a song on stage forever.

Kansas City. Gosh listen to those RAL screams at 3:15

Billy said that Stevie glared at him and it freaked him out, like he thought he’d screwed up. I wonder if Stevie started singing along when she remembered he wasn’t Lindsey?

At that point in the show, Stevie probably doesn't remember where her nose is.

My friend's 75th birthday party is coming up in a couple weeks, and her one birthday wish is that she wants to forget where her nose is(something she hasn't touched in 25 years). So hell, we're all going to forget where they are. Noses be gone!

In The Dance, Stevie doesn't sing the entire second verse, right?

I feel like she didn't start singing the ENTIRE second verse with Lindsey until 2009 or 2013.

Yeah, the first time I can find with her coming in on “tell me why” is 2009. Through SYW she was doing what she did on The Dance coming in on her favorite line “packing up, shacking up.”

She came in on “everything turned around” at least as early as Indianapolis, 1987.

But Jim and I can't find her singing "Tell..." with Lindsey earlier than 2009.

Yeah, that’s what I meant - starting with The Dance she didn’t do that part on that or the SYW tours but I see she went back to doing it for the first time with LB on the Unleashed tour.

I always loved the way in 1990 Stevie would stand next to Billy and silently sing the first verse next to him. Stevie's addition to the song does add something to the song live in concert IMHO.

I’d agree with that. She definitely added something different and positive.

I love studying the evolution of live performances. These are the kinds of questions I’d love to be able to sit down and talk through with the band. How and why did all these things come to be?
