From what I have gathered, most of Bella Donna was done almost like a live album in that the various band people were on site. Stan would have been there in person. There is a video. It was Tom and Mike's song. See what you think of this article:

If you listen to the Jimmy iovine doc. Tom had recorded the song for his album and Jimmy was working on both albums. He snuck Stevie in and had her record her vocals as a duo. They didn't sing those vocals together and Tom didn't know he was going to put her vocals on until he found out later.
