I don't remember hearing whether they were asked as a group or even individually. But the group was on hiatus; Stevie was experiencing studio troubles with her project; Lindsey wasn't going to perform by himself at a mammoth show like that; Christine wasn't going to do anything without Fleetwood Mac; & John & Mick wouldn't have done anything without their front line. 1985 just wasn't an active Fleetwood Mac year. I could remember who played Live Aid that was connected to FM was a then unknown keyboardist named Brett Tuggle who, At that time was playing with Rick Springfield.
