Default Break Down of Out of the Cradle

AMAZING: Everything Except:

Good: Surrender the Rain, This Nearly Was Mine.

Bad: Nothing

I feel the same way about that AND Surrender the Rain. Surrender the Rain is my most favorite song on that album.

Outstanding: Don't Look Down; Wrong; Countdown; All My Sorrows; Soul Drifter; This Is The Time; You Do Or You Don't; Street Of Dreams; Surrender The Rain; Turn It On;

Amazing: Doing What I Can; This Nearly Was Mine; Say You'll Meet Again.

The whole album is just amazing, I don't think I'll ever get enough of it.

Smile

The entire album is incredible. I love every song on it apart from "All My Sorrows" which is still good, but is the only one that I couldn't listen to over and over again.

Outstanding songs: All of them, but if I had to pick my favs., they would be You Do Or You Don't, Doing What I Can, This Nearly Was Mine and Say We'll Meet Again. The latter is my favourite song on the album, followed closely by YDOYD.

Well I love the intro to STR, not the spoken one but the musical intro, I like to just put the first 19 seconds on repeat, but the actual song to me is a bit annoying. Oddly enough it used to be MY favorite song too.

Well perhaps we`ll see that in the next spring. At least there is hope.

OOTC imo is his best solo effort. But a little less polishing would have been nice in retrospect. I`d like a rawer sound instead. Put that cheap Family-man-sound alike-synth off of Soul drifter and the song would gain a lot.
I think Surrender the rain borders on being a Schlager. Never liked it. To listen to All my sorrows demands a certain mood. It drags a bit. To my own surprise I like the Kingston trio original that Mari posted better. Normally I like Lindseys adaptions more than the originals.

My favourite always was You do or you don`t.

Overall OOTC is a great CD.

A friend of mine who was a FM and LB fan from 1987-1991 and then changed his musical taste listened to OOTC in a CD shop back in 92 but didn`t buy it. He said, that the album started good but after a few songs it got less exciting. I didn`t share that opinion but still it was interesting to hear from a non- biased listener.

But that's the point I agree on for more than 100%, lux. GOS would have been -will be?- his ultimate masterpiece.

Only to top with a batch of songs played straight from the heart, recorded almost live and later layered with extra vocals and guitars only. I love his one-man-vocalchoirs and guitarlayers so much that I would not like to miss them for the world. But hell, let him rock out with a band in the studio for the basictracks!

I like the lyrics to Wrong and I like the ending, but even so I guess I figure that's probably the weakest song as a whole on the album. I can understand the polish criticism, so I think that's partly why I do so like the ending to Wrong with it's ever so slightly more ragged guitar soloing, and also why I like that he included This Is The Time.

I actually really love his All My Sorrows. That high-pitched wavering note he hits on guitar in that one is perfect for the kind of calm grief expressed in the song and the singing.

Heart Masterpiece

I love this album to death and it's flawless. All My Sorrows is my least fave song, but that's saying pretty much nothing, as I adore it as well. I agree tho, it takes a certian mood sometimes.

Greatness (Ultimate faves): Don't Look Down, Countdown, Souldrifter, Surrender the Rain, Doing What I Can

Greatness Part Deux: Wrong, All My Sorrows, This Is The Time, You Do Or You Don't, Street Of Dreams, Turn It On, This Nearly Was Mine, Say You'll Meet Again

This is the only solo CD of Lindsay's that I have & I really like it. I mostly listen to CDs as I'm going back & forth to work. The songs I skip are the songs I like least which are All My Sorrows & Street of Dreams. Other then them, I really like it. Love Lindsay's guitar work all through out.
