Speculating on the reissues' "rare demos"
Since we're still waiting for a track-listing for the reissues, I've been wondering exactly which "rare demos" they'll include.
We know which of Stevie's unreleased material has the potential to be included, but there really aren't a lot of known Lindsey rarities from that time-period. I'm thinking "Keep Me There" would be considered more of a Christine demo, but I suppose Lindsey might possibly have some writing credit on that one too. There are four 'Tusk'-era Lindsey songs listed with the U.S. Copyright Office, which might possibly be included. Does anyone know of any other rare LB demos from 75-79? 1. Registration Number: PAu-89-756 Title: Lindsey's song number 1 / words & music by Lindsey Buckingham. Description: 2 p. Claimant: Fleetwood Mac Music Created: 1979 Registered: 12Feb79 Special Codes: 3/M -------------------------------------------------- 2. Claimant: Fleetwood Mac Music Created: 1979 Registered: 12Feb79 Special Codes: 3/M -------------------------------------------------- 3. Registration Number: PAu-89-759 Title: Out on the road / words & music by Lindsey Buckingham. Description: 2 p. Claimant: Fleetwood Mac Music Created: 1979 Registered: 12Feb79 Special Codes: 3/M -------------------------------------------------- 4. LMAO!!!
Lindsey's song number 1 and 2? This man just cannot give out titles...we have Shuffle Riff, Steve's Riff, Lindsey song number 1 and 2.
Out on the Road sounds interesting...I hope we get VERY RARE stuff...and not just the same stuff we've had.

And, how obvious is "Go Your Own Way" as the title to that song. Yet, when I saw them play it for the first time (Thanksgiving 1975), Lindsey introduced it as "a new song we haven't titled yet".

Yeah, anything over 17 is redundant.

Re: Speculating on the reissues' "rare demos"
Well, a bunch of Lindsey demos were just leaked from Tusk that were never heard before. If you don't want your enjoyment of the reissues to be compromised, don't get the boot CD "1979 Tusk Demos: Lindsey's Songs." I wouldn't be surprised if some of the tracks on that boot are tacked onto the reissues. Here is the tracklist for it in case anyone wants to see it:
Instrumental (aka "Song 7"-7/10/79) Instrumental (aka "Song 8"-7/10/79) Farmer's Daughter (4/14/80) Tusk (rough w/ no vocals, 1/29/79) Tusk (7/18/79) That's Enough For Me Walk A Thin Line Lindsey Demo #1 Lindsey Demo #2 Lindsey Demo #3 Lindsey Demo #4 I Know I'm Not Wrong I Know I'm Not Wrong #2 The Dealer Sara Beauty And The Beast Joan Of Arc (3/9/86, live in the studio) The Nightmare (3/9/86, alt. cut with new vocals) Storms (12/1/79, outtake from Tusk)

One of Lindsey's notebooks was one of the items in the "It's Only Rock And Roll" auction at the end of last year. It had these lyrics from the Rumours era to a tune called "Suppression". That might be one of the candidates, unless in this case the lyrics arrived first and the music didn't arrive at all.

I for one am happy - I love that song! The ones in bold are Lindsey's and I've underlined the ones we don't know about, because even though some sound like Christine's, we don't know for sure yet, and they could be Lindsey's. I know thats kind of scary. I must have some kind of psychic connection with Lindsey. Maybe I'll get a birthday card from him instead of a Valentine card. I for one am happy - I love that song! I never said I did not like just not 18 times |
