Wow. How does Rod have that much power in his voice at the edge of 80 years of life lived!!!

Right?! I thought the same. I've seen him a few times, and with Stevie, of course, and he still sounds amazing. And my gosh, what an incredibly well-crafted song. Songbird, indeed. <3

Jeff Beck was once asked in an interview, who his favorite singer was.
(I'm paraphrasing, because it's been a long time ago)
Rod Stewart. Hands down. They broke the mold after they made Rod.

When Rod sings his pop songs now, they don't sound that great. But when he sings this song, he really soars.

James Brown called Rod the best white soul singer. Springsteen said he wished he was blessed with Rod and Bob Seger's voice. I like Bob's voice but I find Rod has an elegance factor too on stuff like Downtown Train, Reason To Believe, Handbags and Gladrags, and This Old Heart of Mine

One of my favorite Rod vocals is on a song from the Jeff Beck Group’s album TRUTH, called “Let Me Love You.” It’s an absolute banger, kind of like a brother tune to Christine Perfect’s “I Want You”—

Ouch. Listening her demos and outtakes, it's really moving.
Her depart still hurts, doesn't it?

It’s still very hard to believe the Songbird is no longer with us.
