It's a great version! And I LOVE the Live in Boston one, his voice rocks on it.

Because it's TRUE. Hehe. I prefer GI over Big Love tho. Wish he was doing GI instead of BL on this tour. Ah well....

I know, huh?

It's a great version though! Have you heard Gypsy from this show, Christy? I know it's a Stevie song but Lindsey is really impressive on that too. THAT'S how they should perform it these days... either unplugged, or not at all. The SYW tour version didn't cut it for me after hearing it done that way.

Exclamation Lol

I think I've heard the AHI 2001 version of Gypsy, but I'm assuming they did it the same...acoustically? I don't understand how I missed AHI 2000 all this time!!

I believe I downloaded Landslide and Gypsy...lemme see......yep, I got both of those. I'll listen to them in a sec.

The acoustic version is awe-inspiring. I was shocked that they didn't do it like that on the SYW tour. For some reason, it just loses a lot in translation form record to stage.

I agree... and it's really through no fault of the band or Stevie, the song just comes across so lackluster on stage. It lacks the sparkle and buoyancy of the album version.

But... when they did it acoustically for the 2000 AHI benefit, it totally came alive.
I hope they realize what a great arrangement that is, and add it to the setlist of a future tour.

I know...after playing it that way (and they had to know how good it was), why go back? It is mystifying as to exactly what is lost onstage...can't really put your finger on it. The best word I can come up with is that the recording has a certain "atmosphere" that is so essential to the song that it's absence brings the song down live. But changing the song to this different arrangement transforms it into something else instead of "that song that's missing something". I know this is the LB Board, but I also have to throw in that Stevie singing perfect "la la's" in this song, as she has in recent years, just drives me up*the*wall for some reason. I miss the more free-form vocals she used to do during those parts of the song. The "la la's", I don't know...cheapen the song for me?
