And, this is just me, but I don't think a four day stint at a Vegas casino is indicative of how she's going to be when she's actually out on the road and touring, good gawd, the sheds.
Well we will see what she is like on this Gold Dust tour. She seems to be a lot more reserved with FM though, don't you think?

I agree that IKINW was a great song last summer. It was my favorite Lindsey song. But are you serious, you would have left if not for a couple of his songs? That just suprises me because I assume FM is somewhat a part of your life considering you post on this message board frequently. I guess that doesn't mean that you have to like the show though- it certainly doesn't sound like you are amazed when Stevie does a twirl.

I just can't imagine the show being that horrible. What about Standback, that song rocked on this last tour. Beautiful Child, that song was well beautiful. Did that do nothing for you? What did you think of Sara? That was sort of a big deal since it hadn't been done live in sooooo long...

I don't want to sound like some crazy Stevie fan but it just suprises me that you didn't enjoy yourself.

I think she sees having another frontman as a way to not do as much and be a little lazier than usual. She doesn't have to carry the whole show like she does when she's solo, so she lives it up. Lindsey acts like a six year old who has had too much chocolate, so it's a good excuse for her to not be as active.

It was a lousy show, what can I say? The sound sucked, the crowd sucked, it was hot, Stevie was boring as hell, Mick was more annoying than usual, and Lindsey was the only thing that was remotely energized. Stevie's twirling does nothing for me, especially in those Reeblechs that turn every twirl into some off-kilter disaster; she can trash it in favor of pulling out some good songs and singing them as if she's interested (which she proved she can do in Vegas).

She sucked vocally, but that's understandable since this was at the time when shows were getting canceled due to her being sick. Beautiful Child was still great, Stand Back bored me, and I think they should never have brought Sara back because it was just so putrid on the last leg. I usually love it live, but nowadays I do not.

What would you like her to do? I think the real issue lies in comparisons. Stevie 2003/2004 vs. Stevie circa 1977, or even 1987, or even 1997. Stevie 2003/2004 vs. Lindsey 2003/2004 (who, I agree, acted like a spazzed out child having epileptic seizures). If the both of them had acted like that on stage, they would have looked ridiculous.

In Vegas, Stevie had a lot of energy. I think she might possibly have held back a lot with FM during SYW for the sake of Lindsey taking the spotlight. Mind you, he went over the top with that spotlight, but still.. I really don't know if he does eat too much chocolate, drinks 10 cups of coffee a day or is just naturally hyper, but in taped shows I've seen from earlier days, he wasn't nearly that crazed.

The one thing I wish Stevie would do with FM is to be more interactive with the audience. I really don't give a sh*t if she can do the high kicks anymore, but it would be nice if she acknowledged the crowd a little more. That's my only constructive piece of advice for her. Otherwise, I thought her performances rocked. If someday she gets out there and does the splits for us, well, I'll be even happier.

Speaking of that I watched the dance last night. I noticed during his speech leading up to BTLH he seemed like he was tweaked out on something. Did anyone else notice this or is it just me?

Lindsey does seem hyper sometimes on stage (just these last few years though) but in all the interviews he seemed soooooo boring! All he knows how to say is "we are more spontaneous then ever" and he never smiles or jokes around or anything. I found that a little strange.... Maybe he brings an espresso maker with him and has a dozen shots before each show, because when he is not performing he seems tired and not very fun...

One thing I found interesting- at that award show a few years ago when FM won for favorite band, the host made some joke about how they were old! Stevie was rolling on the floor she thought it was so funny and Lindsey just sat there and didn't even crack a smile. That is a shinning example of the difference between Stevie and Lindsey in interviews. Of course, it was a different story when they were actually performing live. Lindsey was the manic one.

Nah, Lindsey has been this way at least since the Tusk tour. Think "Not That Funny" from the Mirage video or WMYTYTO from the Tusk tour. This isn't new for Lindsey nor is he "just trying to take the spotlight on the SYW tour." He's been like this for at least 25 years.

Diamond,
since I didn't see the Vegas shows I can't deny whether she was shakin' her booty, but, I can say in all the shows I've seen (and I never miss a solo or FM show in my area) she definately doesn't throw herself into the spins and head flips, kicks, etc like she used too. It's all very controlled, and planned. And s-l-o-w. Wait...and she's wearing 'sturdier' shoes now, isn't she? Hmmm...

I have a DVD of the first show in Columbus and it is obvious she is limping and is injured. But by late Summer (around the time that Live in Boston was taped) I think she was fine. I don't think many people complained about her lack of movement in 2004 because I think she was pretty much recovered by then. I just saw her in Vegas on the Friday and Saturday shows and she was litterally shaking her ass like I have never seen before. So, I just think that it is unfair to judge her state today based on how she was acting right after she took a little tumble down the stairs!

However, not everyone has that amount of energy in their fifties. I agree with David that perhaps there is more to it than just her age...she seemed blah the first leg especially..unmotivated, uninspired...just off somehow. I think part of it was her health issues with the hip, menopause, the travelling but maybe there was more to it. I just think it is sort of unfair when fans expect Stevie to have the same level of energy and flair as she did in 1977. Everyone changes as they get older and I have less energy now, in my early thirties, than I did when I was 25. Not all fifty six year olds dance all night and bubble over with excitement. This has been a progressive thing with Stevie too...she had much less energy on the TISL tour than she did on Enchanted. The first leg of SYW was pretty bad, IMHO, in terms of her overall spark. I felt she did get better, much much better after the first summer break in 2003. When she came back in Sept..she was like a different woman, dancing, smiling, twirling...showing some enthusiasm for her songs. I adore her and am not trying to be overly critical or judgemental..it is just a general observation and my own opinion.
Lindsey has more energy now, imho, than he did twenty years ago for some reason! You would think his excitement or mania would rub off on La Nicks..she would feed off of it. It is contagious for me when watching him!

You know I have gone out with a few friends these last two weekends to a few clubs and bars in the area. The majority of the patrons were senior citizens and there they were dancing it up on the dance floor all night! They were doing the twist at the bar we were at last Saturday! This past Friday night there were people who were 50+ that were getting up and "boogie oogie, ooging till they just couldn't boogie no more."
Now I know that not everyone is going to be the same but yes older people do go out and have a great time. It was ironic because I was the one sitting there like a poopie head.

I love this band and if there isn't a tour of some sort next summer then I'll be depressed.

So the point of this thread is when do you think we may get another tour/record? Is there any hope for next summer? And on a more depressing note- could this have very well been a farewell tour of sorts?

Another thing I would like to add- for the first time this tour (after doing 130 shows) Mick DID NOT say "The Mac is back". Am I reading too much into this?
Someone may have already said this but i'm far too lazy to read through several pages of this thread to find out. Back in 1998 on Stevie's Enchanted Tour, during Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You, Stevie sang the lyrics "I want you to remember me...yes I do..." Well, fast forward to 2005 and she's still touring. It may have not been said in Detroit but it WAS said in Camden..."the Mac is back!" I think whatever happens will happen but I wouldn't be flipped out about it. Towards the end of tours, everyone always seems to get a little emotional and after 130 some dates, it's only natural.

Well in Vegas her dances and twirls were more spontanious. This was maybe because it was only a week long set so she didn't have time to say that a thirty second twirl belonged in this song, or a kick belonged during this chorus. She just did it. I went to Friday's show and Saturday's and as far as dancing goes she was different each night.
