Sometimes?! Only sometimes?! That's Lindsey's forte. He knows it, she knows it, but she hates to admit it.

The production on 24k is bland because everybody let her do whatever she wanted. She thinks she knows everything, and she may know how to write and sing, but that's it.

Anyone else notice the similarities between Special Kind of Love and Trouble? I wonder if that might have been a factor in why it didn't make it on the album.

Why oh why didn't they put Ooh My Love on Tango instead of When I See You Again, or ANY other Lindsey song in place of Family Man?

My guess is that the vibe/tempo is too similar to WTTR...S.

Shares a similar drum beat, that's about it.

I love the Big Love mixes. I love Stevie's "It's a big big love" part. However, after reading the liner notes, I didn't realize that the female grunting echoing Lindsey on this song was not Lindsey. It kind of ruined the song for me just a tad now!
The Big Love mixes are the BEST! I was so excited to hear the Remix/Edit, which is so rare! It's such a great version with all of Lindsey's extra guitar parts included, like that completely different bridge solo.

I love having clean copies of all of the remixes, which were mostly available only on vinyl at the time.

Can't say I care about these too much. .....

It's cool that these were included but I would've preferred a live disc from the '87 set.
Each remix, when those songs start I feel like Hey, that's great!!! But after few minutes they become monotonous. Well, we are not in the 80s anymore. But it's fun to have those versions anyway.

And I agree about having a live álbum.

Ugh, I like a few cuts on 24K Gold, but overall it was disappointing. I mean, there was a reason most of those songs were in the vault. Very few seemed fully fleshed out. And the vocals/production...she sounded like she was singing into a pillow.

While I'm ecstatic in finally having crisp, clear sounding versions of the complete "You and I", "Ricky" and "Book Of Miracles", I can't help but be a bit disappointed and underwhelmed by this Deluxe Edition, at least compared to the three AMAZING sets we've gotten in year's past. All the demos, outtakes and alternates aren't very interesting to me personally, ESPECIALLY the Nicks outtakes. "Ooh My Love" is one of my favorites from TOSOTM, but sounds horrendous here, as does the "Juliet" run through. If these were the best "takes" culled from the Masters, I'd hate to hear what the others sounded like. Chris and Lindsey's outtakes are sub par to my ears as well...but the "Mystified" Instrumental is definitely a keeper.

So now I'm having buyer's remorse for shelling out a bunch of money for less than five songs that I'm happy with. LOL! Well, that AND the liner notes and pictures. Such is the curse for being a "completionist"!

I don't care much for the music videos and 12" remixes. And I don't hear many nuances in the remastering process with the actual album itself. Not that it matters. "Tango" is my least favorite "Rumours-Era Line up" album anyway. I'm just looking forward to a DELUXE 1975 WHITE ALBUM now! They've GOT to do one for for that one, right??? (Again with the "completionist" anxieties...)

I guess I'm in the minority in regards to the Deluxe Tango, huh? Is anyone else out there unimpressed with this one? I can't be the only one.

And (as always) this is just my opinion.

I actually asked iTunes for a refund for Ooh My Love. It's just so bad. For me, the only redeeming part are the last 10 seconds or so.

The Juliet Run-Through, I think is great. As is Book of Miracles, and the Dub Remix of Seven Wonders. Those are the only four I've bought so far.

Has anyone else noticed that one of the photos from the original release isn't present on the new edition -- or at least the 2-CD version, which is the one I bought. It's the shot that was on the back of the original CD traycard: the five members in the pink-and-blue pastel room, but with each member posed in a way that hides their faces, with Mick standing and the others lying on the floor. I liked that shot.

Apart from Tusk, I think this is my favorite of the reissues. The Tango b-sides were always some of my favorites (especially Down Endless Street and Ricky). And it's cool to hear what could have been Mac versions of Juliet and Ooh My Love. Unlike others here, I LOVE the roots-rocking run-through of Juliet. Keeping in mind that this wasn't intended to be the finished track, it shows what could have been. To my ears it would have been far superior to the TOSOTM version. Ooh My Love, on the other hand, I prefer the TOSOTM version.

I think 24K Gold is her most enjoyable album ever.

When the release was first announced I was sort of flamed here by stating there was not enough "new" or unreleased songs that would make a re-release special. I knew they would never release any live songs without Lindsey. In some strange way, the re-release is about as exciting as the original release in my book. There are definitely some great songs and special moments. However they are way to far between in my book. The Tusk re-release was out of this world with unheard live tracks and different versions of the songs. Mirage was decent but no new live tracks. The HBO concert can only go so far.
One interesting thing about Tango is that its considered to be the Mac's second most successful album (I would question that because the Dance went to #1 and sold just as many copies I believe). However, the album only sold 3 million copies in the United States. In 1987 for an album to have 2 top 5 singles and 2 top 20 singles that is actually poor sales. In the late 80's they changed the way album sales were tabulated and album rankings were also changed. If you remember the Garth Brooks/Motley Crue controversy (if you are too young google it). Tango peaked at #7 which tells you sales were sluggish. Please don't flame me I am not knocking the album or the sales. I am stating that the sales were bleak compared to radio airplay vs other artists. It no doubt was a hit album and a success but it did not attract many new Mac fans. The songs got airplay and intense heavy play on MTV but people were not flocking to buy the album. It only sold just over 2 million copies in the late 80s and took until the year 2000 for it to be certified 3x platinum.
