![]() I'm specifically thinking about two songs Tom Petty wrote that were performed by other artists, Never Be You by Maria McKee as well as Rosanne Cash and Ways To Be Wicked by Lone Justice which Maria McKee was a lead singer for. Apparently Maria had a relationship with Benmont Tench in the early 80s which is likely why she got these songs.
Both songs are heavy with the Tom Petty sound but do you think Stevie could have performed these at the time (85 or so) or was it too late in terms of how different her sound changed between The Wild Heart and Rock A Little? |

![]() I have always liked Never Be You and thought Stevie could have sung that song. I like Ways to Be Wicked too but its filthy.

![]() Nice. It seems like she would have better luck w/ Never Be You.
It would be fun to hear hear her do Ways to be Wicked circa 1985 though!
