Heck, I think I'd rather live a crappy life just to die than to get used to the good days and get my top knocked off. It's almost like why do they bother sterilizing the lethal injection needle? (Yes, for those administering the shot.. but still.) mmm.. chicken strips and potato wedges. You're dead on, Christy.. those wedges are great. I hope they don't abuse the potatoes. I heard they pull their eyes out.. I hope it's not true.

Oh. EDIT.

I don't want this to be taken the wrong way. I'm just making light of the situation.. as I see it. Just so you know, Dissension, I don't by any means think animal cruelty is OK. I think it's important to be concerned about what really goes down.. but I think several things are highly exaggerated. Maybe, maybe not.. you know. So I'm not picking on you for having a stance.. I just find that site ridiculous - not in the information contained, but the way they go about getting their message across.

The truth is this: PETA has seriously lost track of the real issues at hand. I was a member of the organization for 2 years. I can no longer agree with their methods. Harassing people is NOT right.. no group should condone tarring and feathering anyone for ANY reason. Paying thousands and thousands for the defense of a madman who BLEW UP a laboratory because of animal testing - injuring humans - is not right; not a bit more than testing on the animals is. Standard operating procedure with the group is search and destroy: find someone eating a certain thing or using a certain product and guilt trip them.. or tease them.. or harass them.. until they stop. It's not right, and human beings have rights too. I may not like it that someone supports an industry that might not be completely ethical.. but it's their perogative. The most I can do is talk to them like a decent human being.. point out things in a straight up way. Not intimidate the hell out of them and make them feel like a jerk for doing what they do. They might not even know.

I feel more productive helping out my local humane society and foster networks than I ever did with PETA. (Not just for domestic animals, of course.) They need to learn a bit about communication as a tool. Sitting around bitching about Johnson & Johnson and boycotting fast food joints didn't do a thing, and I'm sorry I wasted time and money supporting that group.

If PETA wants things to change for the animals, they need to promote their values in a more peaceful.. less fanatical way. Many people find the organization to be so outrageous that.. well.. they forget the group is supposed to be about taking care of the animals. The only know the shock value of the protesters and other cronies.

That's just how I feel about it. So I had to tease a little. (Hah. Potato eyes. Get it. Hah.) I still find red meat and pork products to be absolutely hideous.. but I've come out of my vegan stage and have been eating some dairy products.. primarily cheese.. and occasional poultry to appease the family.. for the past year or so. I am responsible for the slaughter of millions of potatoes though, I have to admit. God, I love anything that used to be a potato. And those potato wedges really are nice.
I never meant to insinuate that you were a moron.

I understand what you're trying to say about PETA, but at the same time, it isn't a fair assessment. Yes, they've gotten too fanatical for their own good. I do not agree with their methods of harassing people and physically assaulting them. However, I do support their endeavors that are exempt from that type of behavior, like the KFC campaign. No matter how fanatical or ridiculous the group is (and it certainly is), there can be no denying that KFC is cruel and inhuman to their livestock.

The fact of the matter is that they could be a million times less brutal than they are. All they have to do is gas their chickens, not torture them (which is exactly what they do). Yum Brands (KFCs parent company) has refused to be more humane with their chickens; it's that simple. They brutalize these animals while still alive and that isn't right. By gassing them, they'll feel like they're falling asleep and won't feel a thing. The argument that they're going to be killed anyways doesn't fly, either. Just because they are being bred for food, it doesn't mean that while they're alive they should be tortured endlessly.

And even if I could care less about the way chickens are treated, I still wouldn't eat food from a place where their chicken rolls in around in its own excrement its entire life and has been doped up with drugs every day to induce growth.

Just my thoughts, though.

Yeah, but is that really considered "fast food?" When I think of fast food I think burger joints, taco joints, ya know, places with drive-thrus. Chipotle is too good to be considered "fast food."

My absolute favorite is Arby's. *Drool* You gotta love the curly fries and a sandwhich that is mostly meat.

And the second favorites are:
Dairy Queen
Subway
Wednesday - gotta love those Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers...cheap and good!

I agree but the fact that Chipotle is owned by McDonald's counts for something. That and the fact that Baja Fresh is usually considered fast food too.

I guess I assume that the chickens used by KFC in Oz are from Australia, and that given I have endlesly heard about cruelty to battery hens, I would have heard about worse cruelty to 'food' chickens. But maybe I'm wrong and they import the chicken meat from the US, although I doubt it. Anyway, the chicken tastes so good, thats why i love it. They must be well looked after to taste so good!

And as for eggs, when I do get them I buy happy eggs (free range). I don't support the hen batteries after the footage I've seen. Who could?

I'm I the only one that thinks KFC tastes like canned ass? It's greasy and just generally nasty. The only thing that place has going for it is the cole slaw.

What, do you prefer the fresh variety you can pick up at the market after giving the squeeze test? (Where's that mooning smilie?)

I like the ice cream there, though it's no match for Amy's Ice Cream down here.

Actually, it's best if it's sat around for a bit. I always seem to walk into these things, don't I?

Really? I had no idea you make a habit of walking into people's butts, but I'll take your word for it.
(Hence the old standby: A rabbi, a priest, a Marissa walk into a butt...)

Oh, now I see the pic. You at the batting cages. Are you the bald one or the one with the brunette extensions?
