Peter's long nails
Here are two photos of Peter in the 80s.
I THINK they are from a Swedish concert, but I'm not sure... They are from a copy of an article, so the quality is not that good. But check those nails... |

Cool!
Thanks Daniel. DO you have the whole article? Would be cool to read. By the way, I have an article from Record Collector about Peter, 1993 I think, pre-splinter group. I can post it if anyone wants to read it, it's quite good with at least one rare photo. /dino |

Dino: I have a photo copy of the article, and it is from a Swedish blues magazine called Jefferson. It can be found on their web site:
www.jeffersonbluesmag.com ...but in Swedish, I'm afraid... It is an 8 pages long essay was written in 1994, so it is also pre-Splinter Group. It has not much new info, but at the time I learned a lot by reading it. It tells the whole story of Peter's life up to then. I could translate it into English, but that will take some time.. Regarding pictures, just these two are of interest .. the others are just well-known photos of Fleetwood Mac. Of particular interest is the writer's memories of his two Peter Green/Kolors concerts in Sweden. The first time, 18 June 1983 in Stockholm, Peter was in quite good shape, played good, but stood quite in the background on the stage. The vocal was a bit muted, and the band was not so tight all the time, but the concert was good! Peter told the press that he had had two great mental breakdowns in the past, and that he had been working at a graveyard in the time after Fleetwood Mac. The next time Peter and Kolors visited Sweden was the summer of 1984. Peter had changed his appearance.. with very long nails, which made it hard for him to play the guitar. The band was tight this time. The second guitarist played much of the solos, and Peter was much in the background. But the writer describes it as a magical concert that touched him more that any other concert. Peter would from time to time do fantastic songs (Need Your Love So Bad), then the next moment he would leave it to the others. Jeff Whittaker did the talking between numbers, but towards the end of the show he whispered something in Peter's ear. Peter then stepped up to the mike and said: "Hello Stockholm!" The audience went crazy. The article sais that "The Enemy Within" planned to do a Japan tour, but that Peter's illness stopped this. But don't know if that was the actual reason, as Peter's contribution to the album is not that big... The writer ends the article by saying that there have been rumours circulating about trying to get Peter back into the studio again ... this was in 1993-4...... And yes, I would love to see the Record Collector article and the photo!! Daniel |

I have a video of Kolors from 1985 playing in Germany. It's just a short set, but they did "Loser Two Times," "In The Skies," "Black Magic Woman," "The Green Manalishi," and "Albatross," as well as two songs by others in the band. And, if I'm being honest, the show kinda sucked. I sent a copy to Mick Fleetwood, and his then manager, Dennis Dunstan, called me and we chatted about it. He said that Peter was really sick when that video was made and had no business being on stage.

Steve, are you sure the video isn't from Rockpalast, Hamburg. November 1982? That's the only one I've heard of by the Kolors band. I'd say the concerts from 1983 has Peter in quite good form, playing beautifully, but then from early '84 and on something happened, he hardly plays at all on the 1984-85 recordings... |
