Well I decided to order this from Amazon UK as living in Canada, there was no way I was going to pay $142.48 CND for this from Amazon.ca when I ended up getting it for $76.19 CND from Amazon UK.
Got my shipping notification last night for a Monday arrival. I am thrilled and can't wait!

Stevie really shines on the outtake version of "That's Alright" and sounds superb on both "If You Were My Love" and "Smile At You". Christine is rather embarrassing on "Put A Candle In The Window" - it's up there with "Butter Cookie".
The live recording has been cleaned up and sounds wonderful. |

I've now had a full listen through to the outtake disc of Mirage and it's pretty fabulous.
"Love In Store" is actually superior to the released version except for Stevie's absence during the chorus but the shared backing vocals during the fade make up for this. "Suma's Walk" is an instrumental version of "Can't Go Back" and is essentially the backing track Stevie sings "Wild Heart" to during the Rolling Stone photo shoot - it's actually quite beautiful. The more acoustic take of "That's Alright" is simply gorgeous and on a par with the originally released version. "Book Of Love" is enhanced by Stevie's harmony vocal during the choruses and is far superior to the final version. "Only Over You" is the mess you'd expect it to be - aimless and awful. "Empire State" is groovy and would not have been out of place on "Law & Order". "If You Were My Love" showcases how effortless Stevie's vocals seemed during this era - it's rather superb. "Smile At You" is a different take from the often bootlegged version from these sessions and features alternate, seemingly ad-libbed lyrics. It's rather fetching and reasonably fierce. "Goodbye Angel" is a different take from the one released on "The Chain" box set and is rather lovely. Christine seems to feature more prominently on this version but it might just be Lindsey's manipulated vocals. "Eyes Of The World" is sublime, with an emphasis on those brilliant shared vocals with Christine. It's far more stripped down. "Straight Back" (Original Vinyl Version) is what it purports to be and sounds fine. "Wish You Were Here" is not dissimilar to the originally released version but features strings and some lovely harmonies. It's quite beautiful, almost cinematic. "Cool Water" seems to be the original b-side version. "Gypsy" (Video Version) is truncated as has been noted from the running time of 4:51. "Put A Candle In The Window" appears to be a quick run-through of an embryonic Christine tune and does not make much of an impression. "Teen Beat" seems to be unchanged but to be honest, it's not a track I ever listened to much in the past. "Blue Monday" is reasonably enjoyable - I'm not sure if it differs much from the bootlegged version. Last edited by Phil; 09-22-2016 at 04:16 PM.. |

Thanks for all the tidbits. I can't wait to hear it. I won't get mine for a while, but it's so strange. They ended up charging me what ends up being $48 and in the US it would have been $86. That includes intercontinental shipping. Anyway, it'll be worth the wait, apparently.

Yes! That outtake alone is worth the whole thing imo. Can't stop listening to it.
