Wow Nico, you really gave some detailed responses to those questions! I will have to respond in more detail when i have a better connection, none of those YouTube vids are loading :-(
Sorry, we had massive ice storms here and lots of power and Internet outages)

But, clearly you ARE a big Yoko fan! I can't say i have met anyone who could name ONE Yoko song, let alone 15! I will have to give her a chance and listen to some of those tracks you suggested. And Julian too, I never really gave him a chance either. Though i am at least familiar with some of his more famous songs. Sean, i love Seans music, and his new stuff with his wife is interesting too. I like unconventional music more than MOR, right now I am on a Flaming Lips kick, so i am immersing myself with all of their stuff. Again, thanks for the great responses and i will reply in more detail asap! Take care...

Default What Men Can Learn About Love From John Lennon : Examiner.com 2/7

I have one update today.

Examiner.com
February 7, 2011
What Men Can Learn About Love From John Lennon - National Nonverbal Communication

I recently saw a bumper sticker that read, "I still hate Yoko Ono." Yoko Ono has perhaps been the most criticised public figure in the media, accused of breaking up the Beatles, deeply resented by the masses, publicly called, "ugly" and surviving having her music and voice the butt of every Beatle joke for all time. Yoko Ono, the target of hate and jealousy which she and John have openly said they found hurtful. While Yoko has never claimed to be a pop-music artist, sensational as she is, she has shown tremendous strength in marching forward artistically despite being the target of heavy spitting of emotional poison. After all, it was her unique style of artful expression that caught the attention of the most legendary man in rock music- John Lennon. One must suspect the truth behind all of this public hate was the utter disbelief that this small, unassuming yet formidable woman won John Lennon's heart and undying love.*

Default "Lady Gaga like Lennon" says Elton John

Found this here

Elton John: Lady Gaga Like John Lennon

Well, she has worn a mop-top wig before...

Elton John provides the music for the new Disney-produced lawn love story 'Gnomeo and Juliet,' and in one notable track, the singer does a duet with Lady Gaga. Apparently, she made a good impression -- he's comparing her to a Beatle.

"I love her, she's absolutely amazing. We've become friends. What I like about the Gaga most is that she's amazingly polite and respectful to everyone around her," the singer told The Daily Mirror. "What I loved most about John Lennon is that he was like that. He once gave my mum a lift to the airport and came to my agent's wedding. The Gaga is like that."

This isn't Gaga's first brush with Lennon's legacy. In October, Gaga performed with Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, as part of the experimental band Lennon and Ono formed in the 70's, Plastic Ono Band. And speaking about that in December, Ono said Lennon would have loved her.

"I think she's wonderful. John would have loved her, because she's an artist, she's fearless and she pushes every limit, which we both always adored," Ono said.

Good thing -- in July, Lennon's son Sean tweeted a photo of Gaga playing at his legendary white piano, which drew criticism from fans, though Sean and Ono defended the action.

For more, including Elton talking new son Zach, click over to The Daily Mirror.

Default More from Elton's "Rolling Stone" interview about John

RS: You received a note of confidence from John Lennon in his legendary 1970 interview in "Rolling Stone." Where did you first meet him?

EJ: I visited John when he was doing a video at Capitol. I was so nervous, but John was so easy and sweet, and later he asked me to play on "Whatever Gets You Through the Night."

There was a year or two when we hung out a lot. We had many laughs, so many great conversations, did so many drugs.

He promised that if that song went to Number One, he'd play a show with you. And it did. What was it like leading up to that performance with John at Madison Square Garden in 1974?

First, John saw a show in Boston when I was being my most outrageous. I'd come out for the encore in a little bikini-chocolate-box outfit. He hadn't been to a show in years, and was surprised by all the lights and the sound. He was like, "This is what it's all about now, is it?"

At the Garden, we rehearsed and it sounded great, but he was physically sick before the show- he hadn't been onstage in so long. Yoko came to the show and brought him a gardenia- I'll never forget that. And I'll never forget the reception he got that night. Like, eight minutes of floor-shaking standing ovation. He was genuinely moved. We all went out that night to the Pierre Hotel, and that was his reconciliation with Yoko. Amazing night. I never saw much of him after, and I didn't need to. He was back with the woman he loved, genuinely happy.

So many of your close friends have met tragic fates. Where were you when John Lennon was shot?

I was in Australia, on a plane from Brisbane to Melbourne. When we landed, the Elton John party was told to stay on the plane, and I immediately thought, "It's my grandmother," because she was elderly. When they said it was John, I couldn't believe it. We went to the cathedral in Melbourne at the exact time they had the vigil in New York. We sang hymns and we cried. It was an astonishing time. John truly touched my soul.

It's happened so much in my life. With John, with Gianni, with Princess Diana, and my friend Linda Stein. Four of my friends have been murdered. John was so lovely. When I think of him, I remember how lovely he was to my mom and dad- I mean, he drove them to the airport. I remember going to a Russian restaurant in New York, and when John went to the bathroom, my dad put his false teeth in John's drink. We were laughing and laughing.

Default Two New Beatles Articles

I have two couple more new Beatle articles I just found I want post here.

Echo,Liverpool.UK
February 1, 2011

The Cavern prepares to celebrate 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ first lunchtime session

LUNCHTIME, February 9 1961 – all over Liverpool city centre, thousands of workers were streaming out of offices and shops to enjoy an hour away from the cash till, telephone or desk.
One of them was Alex Mckechnie. But instead of his usual lunchtime routine, on that Thursday he headed straight for nearby Mathew Street where he’d been told a local band just back from Hamburg was making an appearance.
That band was the Beatles, and next week – and half-a-century later – Alex will be among those back in the (current) Cavern to mark the 50th anniversary of John, Paul, George, and Pete Best’s first appearance at the legendary club.
Cavern Club bosses are planning a day of celebrations to mark the date, and they want as many Liverpudlians, particularly original ‘Cavern dwellers’ from the early 1960s to come along and join the free festivities.

The Beatles Bible
Raymond Jones interview

Raymond Jones played a small but pivotal role in The Beatles' history. He was the man who, on Saturday 28 October 1961, ordered a copy of the group's single My Bonnie from the NEMS shop at 12-14 Whitechapel, Liverpool. Jones was served by Brian Epstein, who at the time ran the store's record department.
Epstein's curiosity was piqued after Jones told him about The Beatles, and on 9 November 1961 he paid a visit to the Cavern Club to watch them perform. So began a chain of event which let to him managing the group, securing them a record deal and steering them to worldwide fame.

Awesome! I hope I can catch the video while it is online afterward because I will very likely be swamped at work. Thank you MsLinds. You know my Sean love.

Here's a very interesting new random tidbit, which makes me very proud considering all of the other searches are for rather modern things:

Justin Bieber and John Lennon top celebrity searches for kids, survey reports

source: this article

John Lennon, along with young idol Justin Bieber, were the two most-often searched for topics on the internet by kids during the last quarter of 2010, according to survey results released today by Norton Online Family.
Bieber placed first, while Lennon placed second ahead of Lady Gaga, who placed third. Norton says the survey was conducted between Aug. 1 and Dec. 1, 2010. This was when Lennon fever was running high over events to celebrate his 70th birthday and might explain his high showing.
Bieber took a dominant position in the top searches of every country except for India, China and Japan, Norton said, while John Lennon was a top search term in Australia, India, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and the United States.

Norton said they tracked a total of 23.3 million searches submitted by a sample of users of their Norton Online Family service in 20 selected countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The results, based on more than 20 million anonymous search-engine queries from kids in 20 countries, found that more than 75 percent of entertainment searches kids conducted online were for songs or musicians.

Norton Online Family, a globally available resource for parents for safe Internet behaviors for kids, is available free at https://onlinefamily.norton.com.

We'd love to hear from any young readers on how John Lennon is important to you now.

Here's their list of the top 25 entertainment searches:
1. Justin Bieber
2. John Lennon
3. Lady Gaga
4. Dynamite
5. Waka Waka
6. Teenage Dream
7. Love the way You Lie
8. Katy Perry
9. Airplanes
10. Rihanna
11. Shakira
12. Selena Gomez
13. Miley Cyrus
14. Taylor Swift
15. Just the Way You Are

Well, I finally was able to watch those vids you posted Nico! I am very intrigued that you picked so many Yoko songs--would you be so kind as to post some vids for some that you really like? I am certainly willing to give her chance, and Julian too

I liked Julian's video, I wasn't familiar with that song, and my goodness, he looks SO much like John in this, it's eerie! At first thought it was the war film that John was in (did Julian do that as a homage to John??). Very poignant....good job Julian!

And of course I love "Watching The Wheels" and all the footage of little Sean. What a loving, doting Dad he was! Sean is truly blessed to have had John during those critical formative years. I'm sure it helped make him the wonderful person he is today. Thanks so much for sharing all those vids and insight (and to msLinds for her comprehensive updates!)
Cheers!

Brilliant. I freakin' LOVE the GOASTT and Rebecca Minkoff. I want a lot of things in that collection, especially the little black sling bag and the Charlotte dress. I'm loving the mesh of music and fashion that this band has going. It's completely my thing. THANK YOU for posting this MsLinds!! Sean, keep showing off those Lennon skills. And Char, just keep being you girl.
