I literally just no longer have the time and energy is all.

I'm not sure how much time passed there but for me it seemd that all of a sudden there was an I'm sorry thread. I don't think she gave her the time to respond. Regardless, I think we've hashed and rehashed the whole thing, and I think all points of view have been expressed and re-expressed. Ugh!

Yeah you're right, it IS silly and stupid.

We really do try to be fair. Also, strikes and such are private matters so people are only going to hear from their friends when they get them. If someone they don't like gets one - they won't even know! We have issued warnings and strikes to people that would probably surprise some.

Here is my take:

1. The horse's ass was posted as a direct insult to Chris. Anyone who now is equivocal on intent is full of shiitte. If you had the sand to post it, don't be a pu$$$y when called on it. You laid the fukcing card, now play it.

2. The selective posting of private PM’s is bullshiite and taking things out of context as this pissing war has been going on for months if not years in some cases.

3. The temporary banning was way over the top, as Stew said. But, what is done is done. Hopefully people can get over it.

4. Chris resigned and apologized. What the fukc else do people want? Maybe we should hog tie her and beat the living shiitte out of her. Would that suffice

In the end, you get what you give in life and all I see here is persecution, which is beneath all of us.

On a personal note, I have been stabbed in the back by more than one person on this board and on other boards. I have had people put words in my mouth and swear I said it. Moreover, I have had people accuse me of doing things I would never do in an effort to meet FM. Fortunately, at all of these times I was with more than one person who could vouch for me that the lies were just that. I have had people try to get money out of me by concocting BS stories. I suggest these actions are far worse than a moderator treating you in what you think is an unfair fashion. Yet, I shook off that BS and am friends with many of the same people who fukced me over. I think many around here could learn from that little parable because I have seen nothing here that comes close to approaching a life altering, unforgivable event

On a final note, if you want to go, then go. I think you an idiot for doing so because, and again, the naysayers protagonist is nullified. Here’s a suggestion. Instead of leaving, why not put your name in the hat to be a moderator. Let’s see how fair and impartial you are – or if you are willing to let the past go.

Tone = straight forward and pulling no punches.
And I can't believe you've been through all of that on here and are still here!

I will say I am quite disturbed that this has evolved into Suze and Chris departing The Ledge. I thoroughly enjoy their posts and would hope that they will still participate.

As to JS, I would have followed up in the same fashion should there be mutiple signatures of a "fukc you" nature towards a moderator. So.....huggggs for ((((JS))))
Oh hell no I'm not leaving! Just stepping down as mod, but not until a replacement is made.

Also, I don't think this was the first time there eff you sigs meant for mods in sigs. So in a way JS was partially justified in the temporary ban. He felt he had to do something drastic and quickly because things had gotten so out of hand. We all know he usually doesn't have knee-jerk reactions. So in my opinion that is a reflection of how bad things were.

I just wanted to bring to light that a lot of you keep referring to if the Chit Chat forum goes away...it has been taken down in the past (One more thing only us old-timers would remember, Brian ). So there is precident; it's not just a theoretical solution.

When to moderate, what to moderate...it's not so cut and dry. Remember this is a board where the members call for a complete freedom of speech for everyone...except for Ethan...because he's annoying.

We are accused of "selectively enforcing the rules." For the record I don't belong to any group or clique that I can percieve, so I'm not sure who I would be "selecting." But here's some of those rules:

If all you have to add are harrassing, insulting, taunting, nasty remarks or name-calling, you'll be asked to go somewhere else.

Any statement that defames, abuses or threatens others

Material that advocates illegal activity or discusses illegal activities with the intent to commit them. This includes any threats including death or bodily harm

Material that contains vulgar, obscene or indecent language
Sexually explicit language, images or other content (pornography)

Imagine if we went after every post, and poster, that could fit into one of these categories. Aside from the immense amount of time and effort that would take, there's very few of you that wouldn't end up with warnings and strikes at the end of the day.

Perhaps that is how we should move forward. My hope, is that we go after the really egregious cases and kind of have faith that the rest of you are adult enough to handle the lesser cases. Either that or we intervene when someone asks us to or when someone seems to be ganged up on. Is that wrong? IDK, you tell me.

Perhaps we are guilty of sending out too many warnings and not enough strikes. Sometimes there are posters who have gotten a number of warnings from us in the past and then, when they finally get a strike or a ban, to the group it's percieved to be for a small infraction, when there has actually been a history of, for lack of a better word, "abuses."

(Please take my words at face value; they apply to people not involved in this case and don't apply to some who are.)

I really don't want this to become a novel, but I'm telling you that we do the best we can. No one wants this to be an unwelcoming place, for long-timers or newbies, and while there's been a lot of talk about what the mods have done wrong (and mods admitting and apologizing for those things) I see very little talk about personal responsibility on behalf of the rank and file. Something to think about, and I'm sure I'll be hearing from those of you who think I'm wrong. That's OK. We're just talking, here.

Very well put, especially, "Remember this is a board where the members call for a complete freedom of speech for everyone...except for Ethan...because he's annoying. "

Another message board I am a member of (It is such a well known website that it was listed in a recent VH1 countdown lists Top 10) recently posted a picture of a blue haired Perez Hilton (I think that's his name, I see his website listed here lots of time) and the stuff posted to remark about that picture (99.999% negative) makes what has EVER been posted here look like the Pope's bed-sheet by comparison- and yes (??!!) surprisingly that website is moderated...How it is moderated is beyond me

I'm currently thinking about radioactive decay and the Mathmatical modelling of it. I have to write an essay on it and the Maths part of it is fine, but trying to write about radioactivity is taking all my concentration since I'm a terrible essay writer. I chose to do Applied Maths and Physics for a reason! All numbers no words!!

I'm also being distracted by the announcement of Black Sabbath playing a UK tour! So excited that I get to see Tony Iommi at last. The fact that Dio is singing is just what makes it my most anticipated concert ever. Pity it isn't until November...

Write it out in numbers first and then translate to language!

Thats all it takes. To admit to some mistakes and try to behave a little better. But it takes courage to do that and a little self realisation too. Maybe some are not ready yet.

^^^^^
this reminds me of the mathematics equations for half-life decay amounts for radiation - now my brain has gone FUBAR'd again (I am NRC/Nuclear Regulatory Commission certified to handle radioactive material for Radiographic Examinations of Pipelines)

I wished they (Black Sabb...err, "Heaven & Hell") would play around here somewhere - I'm more of a Dio era fan of the band than I ever will be of the Ozzy era (Matter-of-fact my favorite singer in Black Sabbath was/is/always be Tony Martin - dude has a hellacious set of pipes and "Headless Cross" is one hella heavy album).

One of the docs I work with told me that 1 shot of Depo Medrol (a steroid) will give you at least a month of relief. He'd rather do that than keep prescribing Zyrtec or Claritin.

No insurance. I haven't taken legitimate medicine for years, and street pharmacists don't really offer prescription plans.
