Default Top 12

Dear Friends,
If you were to pick the best musical selections done by Peter Green, what would you pick. The choices would come from everything he has recorded, either willingly or by bootleg. The criteria is all yours. Either by song or type or version. Peter has done several versions of the same song over time. When you pick them indicate from whence it comes. I personally think this is real hard because I have never seen a greatest hits of his that I have been satisfied with that could fit on one CD. I am not sure the same could be said for a lot of performers. I chose twelve because it sounded sort of religious.

I can't do it either. Everytime I think of one to nudge in the list, I do not know what to drop out. Unfortunatly what has happened is that even though there is a lot of good stuff both pre and post mac, when looked at in light of the other stuff they drop down a little. The same is for live as opposed to studio stuff. The only studio cut that was left was recorded live in the studio

All Over Again (Fillmore West 1/4/70)
Homework (Eagle Auditorium 1970)
All Over Again (The Warehouse 1970)
Black Magic Woman (Boston Tea Party 1970, “unissued ver.”)
Worried Dream ( (Carosell Ballroom 1968)
If You Be My Baby (Shrine 1969)
Need Your Love So Bad (Shrine 1969)
It takes time ( The Warehouse 1970)
Stop Messin around (College of Distributive Arts 1969)
Before The Beginning (Shrine 69)
Rollin man (mr Wonderful)
Green Manalishi (Boston Tea Party 1970)

I'd sort of forgotten about that performance - listening to it again, it's some of the most powerful playing that Peter did with the Splinter Group. Good call, mzero!

Yes, the guy who recorded that concert cut everything which had a longer instrumental part

It's a shame that only a few recordings exist of Drifting. I love Moore's version a lot as well.

great selections each time. I think what separates Peter Green from so many artists is there is a real wealth of work. I do not mean to dis any other artists but there are not a lot of musicians who can't be bound to a single greatest hits CD. There are those who would say that well Peter only has 3 real hits but that is missing the point.
ps: chiliD i love your inclusion of "Oh Suzannah"

Cool video! That was the first incarnation of the PGSG! I don't remember ever seeing a video of that era.
Neil Murray on bass, Spike Edney on keys & Cozy Powell (RIP) on drums.

The complete show can be downloaded as a torrent file from:

As for the ultimate Peter Green recording: Oh my God, how can I ever cut that down to just one album????

Totally agree with Sharksfan.
Perhaps I'll come back on this.

Cheers
