Does anyone remember Mick Jagger yanking off Tina Turner's mini-skirt during Live-Aid?

It was naughty and surprising, and yet, Mick & Tina exuded so much charisma, chemistry and professionalism, that it was just a great, pure rock 'n roll kinda moment.

Eh... seemed forced.

I'm definitely not a prude, and while I was surprised, I definitely wasn't shocked... I was just left feeling like "what was the point?"

There was no sense of "fun naughtiness" about it.

But I have to say that I am not at all surprised at the number of prudish people who are outraged by this.
As Carne pointed out, there are a lot of strange things people look right past... but the minute you see a body part exposed, everyone goes into a tizzy.

I'm not fan of Matt Drudge but if you go to www.drudgereport.com, he's got uhm. . .close-up shots of the . . .whatever the heck that was around her. . .uhm. . .nipple. It's some sort of piercing body jewelry. It looks painful to me. The real story here is that apparently MTV had posted something on their website earlier on Sunday about how Janet's performance would be "shocking". After it all hit the fan, they yanked that particular press release off the website but you can still google it and get the cached version of it. It was not an accident, that much is for sure.

Maybe it's my age, but yes, I was shocked. I sort of expect that sort of thing at the MTV Awards but this was network TV with a huge worldwide audience--one of the most highly viewed events of the year-and as it turned out, one of the most highly watched Super Bowls in several years. Yes, the human body is a beautiful thing, but does that mean that everyone has to go around showing theirs off? Little kids watch this game for God's sake!

But the questionable content of the commercials is OK for kids? Grandpa beating up grandma to get to a bag of chips. That's OK? For that matter, the inherent violence in the game itself is OK?

I'm not knocking football or justifying Janet's stupid stunt. But I think we need a sense of perspective.

Well, when those two are together, they can do *no* wrong. I've always thought they should collaborate together for an album, it would kick MAJOR ass. Tina and Mick are the great rock duo that never got together, IMO.
