Pretty.
She sounds like the younger version of herself in this clip. I like it.

Her voice sounds great! But I hope we get some of the girls' vocals layers in at some point

WOW! Same exact key as the demo. HER VOICE SOUNDS AMAZING!!! Definitely the best vocal performance from the 10 second snippets thus far. She sounds so young here!
Also to note that the piano chords are the exact same as the demo. I doubt they will do the same thing they did with "Lady", though. Dollars to doughnuts that there will be more instrumentation (and possibly strings) enter the equation later on in the song. ...at least, I HOPE they do! So excited!!! Agreed! We need those layered harmonies here! |

The vocal is sweeter than what we have been getting. I hope there are harmonies and much more instrumentation in the arrangement than what we hear in this clip.

Thank you for posting the clip!
This sounds great so far! She's using her soft voice which I like sometimes. It helps bring out a feeling and sets the mood, depending on the song. I wonder if there is going to be any harmonizing in this. Will have to wait and see. |

Like everyone else has brought up, it was the double harmonies that really made this song poignant. I hope they make an appearance later in the song.
I do love the fact they used a tack piano like the original, though. Stevie's voice is also remarkably unstrained, which is nice to finally hear.

Her vocal reminds me of Storms.
Which is good! Can't wait for this album!

Her voice is really soft in this. I'm glad we only have 3 more weeks until the vinyl - I really can't wait to hear the full versions of the songs.

I like the vocal reverb they had on the demo though...

Wow wow wow this is gorgeous, this is the Stevie I fell in love with. My only hope is the harmonies are kept in tact, which I'm sure they will.

Yeah I think they will be. This snippet sounds like the beginning of the demo... The girls don't even come in until the "I sit not in flight..." part. Or is it "I sit out at night"? That lyric has always been a major mystery to me. I guess we will finally find out once we get the words in the liner notes.

I agree. Her voice does sound pretty good. But that reverb added that dramatic feel.
I think this will be another bare bones piano piece, but with background vocals with the girls or with herself, I guessing the strings will appear on "She Loves Him Still" in place of the programmed synth strings on the RAL outtake. I can also see some light strings on If You Were My Love. I was hoping for more subtle atmosphere to elevate the demo, which I know is a fan favorite, but it's never been at the top of my list, so I was hoping for some augmented arrangement with some strings, tight background, something a little more, just subtle. But guessing from this clip, sounds as if they have (once again) followed the demo verbatim. For me, this is my least favorite clip. No wonder this record was recorded in record time. They only had to arrange about 3-4 songs entirely. Last edited by Christopher; 09-09-2014 at 05:50 PM.. |
