Bateman likes to boast that he and McVie are friends and that she has repeatedly invited him around to the house for dinner.
Well I'll bet he can forget that happening again

I doubt if it ever happened in the first place. I mean the times I've been to hers for dinner and I've never seen him

Right. I don't think it happened neither, I mean Christine Mcvie, the legend, having dinner with...a random Big Brother guy. Definitely not.

I'm not sure why Chris is so concerned about the "poly-tunnels." She's already got cows (and presumably the fragrance of cows) in her backyard. Plus, it's not like she could see anything beyond her tall hedgerow, that is, assuming that she even goes outside. NiMBYism, indeed!

This article smacks of the very worst about the UK: village politics and stupid, lazy journalism.

From the article, it appears Christine did not vote in favour of the fences. Therefore Nick Bateman and the manipulative journalist are traducing the reality of the situation.

No wonder Christine - if any of this can be believed - doesn't want to see anyone; they cannot be trusted.

What cows?

Wickhambreaux is a very lovely olde worlde English village. All it really needs is a duck pond and some merrie peasants dancing round a maypole and the image would be complete. Poly tunnels would be ugly but it is an agricultural area .

Some dumb questions...

What's a poly-tunnel?

What's a nimby?

NiMBY is Not In My Back Yard. Horribly common in the UK.

Not 100% sure about a poly tunnel but I'm guessing laying them, or whatever, involves construction work and general disruption to the village.

Polytunnel is a type of greenhouse, it's a plastic covering over plants. In the UK they are used a lot for berry planting. I'm not sure if there is an American English equiv or not. Here is a pic:

That's true. When Bateman initially opposeed the consortium, it was a very small blurb in Big Brother news. See, http://www.digitalspy.com/bigbrother...-campaign.html.

But then when you insert Christine's name, distort things a bit and paint it as some sort of preservationist feud, it gets more attention.

I completely agree! By the way Ulpian, where in Scotland are you?

Here's the article from the paper - with what looks like a recent photo of Christine.

Why'd they say she hadn't been photographed in 10 years if they are running with that photo? Thanks for posting this.
