Looks like right now there's a tie between "Sentimental Lady" and "Hypnotized". Voting closes tomorrow!

Yeah, Bright Fire won Favorite Welch song from Penguin with only 3 votes, and Angel won Favorite Welch song from Heroes with only 5 votes. Both songs lost to Christine in the album finals.

Sentimental Lady and Hypnotized seem to be Welch's stand out tracks during his Mac tenure. Actually I think Hypnotized made into the early Buckingham-Nicks era setlist? I'm sure chiliD or somebody can verify that...

In 1975/76, "Hypnotized" was usually their 2nd encore song (after "Don't Let Me Down Again"). According to Mick's book (so take it with your own grain of salt), "Sentimental Lady" had been in Fleetwood Mac's concert set when they helped Bob record his French Kiss version (apparently/supposedly, that's where Buckingham came up with the arrangement). But, I have yet to run across any recordings from that time frame that included the song; and, there are quite the number of recordings of Rumours tour concerts from '77/'78.

What DOES surprise me is that there are no concert recordings from '75/76 that have "Rattlesnake Shake" with Lindsey singing/playing. I attended quite a number of Fleetwood Mac shows where that was the set ender. (usually, it was the set ender when they were a support act on the bill..if they headlined, "Blue Letter" ended the set, with "Don't Let Me Down Again" & "Hypnotized" being the encore tunes)

I'm assuming Lindsey did lead on those songs. Though I can't picture Lindsey singing "Sentimental Lady." "Rattlesnake Shake" I can definitely picture Lindsey singing that one!

Sentimental Lady is one of the greatest songs of all time, so beautifully written and Christine's harmonies are gorgeous. Hypnotized is another favorite of mine but it pales in comparison for me.

While I love SL, I've always been bothered by Bob and Chris's phrasing, because they don't MATCH!

It's the same kind of story
That seems to come down from long ago
Two friends having coffee together
When something flies by their window
It might be out on that lawn
Which is wide, at least half of a playing field
Because there's no explaining what your imagination
Can make you see and feel

Seems like a dream
They got me hypnotized

Now it's not a meaningless question
To ask if they've been and gone
I remember a talk about North Carolina
and a strange, strange pond
You see the sides were like glass
In the thick of a forest without a road
And if any man's hand ever made that land
Then I think it would've showed

Seems like a dream
They got me hypnotized

They say there's a place down in Mexico
Where a man can fly over mountains and hills
And he don't need an airplane or some kind of engine
And he never will
Now you know it's a meaningless question
To ask if those stories are right
'Cause what matters most is the feeling
You get when you're hypnotized

Seems like a dream
They got me hypnotized

Bright Fire - 0 nominations
Angel - 0 nominations

Hypnotized moves on to the nominations for Favorite Pre-Rumours song.
