I need to see this man live. I don't suppose he has any reason to be doing shows again in the near future, huh?

^^He mentioned going back out on the road again with the guys when the next album comes out so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will happen.

I will hope! It's one of those situations where he was playing literally eight blocks from where I work, and yet I wasn't keeping up that well at the time and didn't even know. Talk about kicking oneself.

Did Lindsey play any stuff from Out of the Cradle during this tour? Forgive me if it's been discussed ad nauseum, don't see a mention in this thread!

On the first leg of the tour Lindsey didn't play from OOTC at all. He was finally asked about the omission in an interview and said it wasn't deliberate.

He did start encoring with Turn it On during the last part of the tour, which shocked me since he didn't even play that when he was promoting OOTC! When OOTC came out, Turn It On was not really one of my favorite tunes on the album. But hearing it live changed my viewpoint. Also, with my father dying in 2005, I think the lyrics meant something different to me than they did when the song was new. So, it was a powerful addition to the setlist.

That doesn't mean that Lindsey doesn't still owe us Countdown, Don't Look Down, You Do or You Don't, Wrong . . . Maybe in 2008.

Also, the album version of Doing What I Can never did that much for me, but it simply sizzled live. I'd love to hear that one again.

Turn it On is my favorite track off OOTC and was absolutely thrilled that he did it live. I got to see it three nights in a row!

I skipped this tour. Was it his best? What is the consensus?

For me, although I think OOTC was an almost perfect album and I loved hearing those songs performed (and hope to hear them live again someday), I really think that the UTS tour was better and I really think the 3 piece band sounded just as full as the guitar army did back then. But memory can play tricks on you and the UTS tour is still strong in my head, so maybe it's not a fair comparison. Also, I only saw OOTC twice and I saw UTS a lot more, so I have less to judge.

Not to quote one of his speeches, but I do think that Lindsey is at his creative peak today and while his performances then were manic and energetic, I really think he's got a special exuberance now that's contagious and makes the concert even better.

Turn it On was toned down a step. It wasn't played on the same key as the album. Plus it was only a few players, so all that amazing guitar work on the album was sort of lost. I hope one day, he gets the guitar army and they re-create the album version. I just love how layered it is.

What key is it in on album? & what key was it on tour? They took it down a full step? or a half step?

Did the Buckinghammers play Bwana? Trouble? I assume they did GYOW, the showstopping anthem. I heard they did Holiday Road.

He did a revamped version of "Trouble". Not that I SAW a show, but I did download one of them...have yet to burn it onto CD.

I know that he performed Bwana as an encore at least once. Yes he did Holiday Road and he even provided the dog barks at the end of the record for us. Trouble was a highlight of the show. I liked it when the song came out, but it sounded like heaven at the Soundstage taping and it continues in that vein. To me, it's less like a frothy pop song now and more sensual, yearning and mature. I loved it in the eighties, but it seems to have gained in subtance a little now.

As for GYOW, gee, I can't remember if he still performs that one . . .

Is there, is there balm in Gilead? Tell me truly I implore.

If he does tour soon, I hope to baby Jesus that he adds Soul Drifter into the set. That would be amazing.
