Default Peter Green and Lindsey Buckingham on RS's Greatest Guitarist Page

On the landing page of RollingStone.com is their new 250 Greatest Guitarists.

Peter is up there pretty high at #62. Lindsey is at #110.

Mike Campbell and Joe Walsh are lower than Lindsey in the list.

Rick Vito, Billy Burnette, Neil Finn, and Bruce Springsteen didn't make the list.

So Lindsey is falling? Did not Rolling Stone have the top 50 best guitarists a few years ago and he was #50?

Yes, he has fallen from #100 to #110. This list is much more inclusive and diverse so I would have thought he would have not even made it given there are 150 more guitarists on this list than the last one. I mean Bruce, Rick, Billy, Neil, and Ronnie Wood aren't on this list but Lindsey made it. I'm surprised.

I’m not surprised at all really. Maybe Rick could have just about scraped in, but the rest…..no way. The only reason Rick was recruited is because billy isn’t a great guitarist. He’s good, but not great.
Neil Finn is a great all-round musician and a first rate songwriter. But as a guitarist….he might get into top 500

For context, even Knopfler and Clapton are only ranked 96 and 35 respectively.
At least Joni broke the top 10.

How do the folk roots come through on GYOW? The added acoustic?

Slash was far down the list too. I think Lindsey's placement is actually pretty high. And Peter is in the Top 100 which is well deserved.

I feel for Ronnie Wood though. Mick Taylor and Keef got the glory.

I wish Danny Kirwan could be recognized. In four years with the band, he brought an exceptional quality to their records. And if you listen to his playing on live shows from 1971 and 72, it’s clear he was as potent as Green. Green was Green, obviously, and there’s no question his playing influenced Danny’s, but Danny brought a whole different dimension to the band. His playing had a real sting, but it could also be incredibly warm and lyrical. He was a powerhouse of a player who also happened to be delicate and vulnerable.

He deserves recognition….

Absolutely, I'm still appreciating this era with Danny more and more.

Re: Danny….yes. I hope one day he will truly get the recognition he deserves. I hope one day to see a DK documentary or even some sort of biopic.
Not saying he’s up there with Peter….but he’s there somewhere!!!

Gosh, I would love a docu, just on Pre B/N. With focus On Peter, Jeremy, Danny, Christine, Bob Westin, Dave Walker, and Bob Welch.

The Peter Green concert went over well. But, you're right, nobody knows who these people are anymore.

The club I did sound at for 30 years USED to do tons of blues acts. They stopped doing blues 15-20 years ago, because they only crowd that's left for it is 70. They order one beer for the entire night.

If Peter Green had come back at some later point in the band, nobody would've given af.
