Pick of the Past: Fleetwood Mac play at University of Reading and Top of the Pops rehearsals
http://www.getreading.co.uk/news/ber...-play-10567580

After we looked back on 1978’s Picnic Concert, we’ve got our hands on some more music photos of the past.

This time, they’re of the legendary Fleetwood Mac and some shots of the rehearsals for an episode of Top of the Pops featuring Dusty Springfield.

Believe it or not, Fleetwood Mac, the super-successful British/American band responsible for hits like “You Can Go Your Own Way” and “Little Lies”, played a gig at the University of Reading back in 1970.

The group formed in 1967 and the gig in Reading was part of their Kiln House tour.

The year after the Reading performance, the band went through a bizarre experience when their guitarist Jeremy Spencer announced he was going out to “buy a magazine” and never returned.

He was later found to have joined a “religious group” called the “Children of God.”

They have now sold more than 100 million albums and are regarded as one of the most successful groups of all time.

The second batch of photos is from the filming of Top of the Pops in London back in 1967.

We have to admit, there’s no direct link to Reading, but the photos show some of the stars of the age rehearsing to perform on the show.

We also guess Reading’s proximity to London meant people from the town could’ve bopped along to the likes of Dusty Springfield at the actual show, which was filmed later the same day.

Other acts on the episode of May 25th included The Tremeloes, Procol Harum and Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich.

If you were at either performance, email Hugh.Fort@trinitymirror.com

Very cool pics. Thanks for the post. I'm assuming John was standing in back of the drums? Couldn't see him in any of the pics.
