I know what you saying about the extinguishing of claptons aggressive style but i think hes basically the same player he was when burst in the scene just as i pointed out when he was a sideman in the 60´s he was awesome cause all he had to worry about was the guitar playing.But as a band leader he plays boring stuff.
As soon as he was given full responsiblity he stopped taking the big solos and doin the guitar hero thing. Its fair enough like playing the same format for someone who is obviously so talented must become tiresome. I think also his choice of guitar affected his firey playing style. If you stick a les paul in his hands he still go the moves to make that baby sing, im sure. |
