I initially thought the same thing, but then realized she meant she and Lindsey weren’t making records anymore.

My theory is that it was over between them once Lindsey publicly shot down a Buckingham Nicks reunion tour. Under normal circumstances, that would have been the end of Fleetwood Mac, but between Christine wanting to come out of retirement and John successfully fighting cancer, the band took precedent over the personal drama (again). It bought that version of Fleetwood Mac nearly four more years and we got a studio album of sorts. However, it was obvious the Stevie-Lindsey dynamic continued to deteriorate. I don’t think there was a way for her to bring herself to record an entire album with him.

Did he shoot down a BN reunion? Or did he say it would be hard to make money doing a BN reunion for a few shows, as you have to spend money to get rehearsal space and other touring expenses?

It’s the 40th anniversary, so it’s time to finally put it out on CD and maybe do a tour with the old band, possibly including Waddy Wachtel and the other guys.

Oh, the old band with Waddy Watchtel. Wow. Well, listen, I would love to do a tour with Stevie. I think that would be very appropriate. She was talking about doing it in between legs of a Fleetwood Mac tour, which is not going to happen. It’s logistically impossible. It’s economically suicidal because you can’t do enough touring it make it worthwhile.

Putting out Buckingham Nicks, I’m totally down with that. To do what she’s talking about, we need some bonus tracks. We need to do one from each of us. I’m totally down with that. I’m not necessarily opposed to doing that in a Fleetwood Mac set, although it hits me a little bit like we’re going off message. But did she mention any other new material to you? I bet she didn’t.

As a fan primarily of Christine, I love the 'Buckingham McVie' album. "Game of Pretend," "Carnival Begin," and "On With the Show" rank way up high on my list of FM favorites.

There is more than one obvious difference between it and 'Say You Will.' Besides one of the FM women being missing from each of them, the SYW album is way, way too long, and the BMcV album is just about the right length or even a little bit too short.

When I saw the BMcV tour in Boston, I was really happy they played most of the album, and ending with "Game Of Pretend" was just perfect (no pun intended). It was a song enough like "Songbird" to leave the audience with a familiar contented feeling, but also allowed Chris and Lindsey to make a statement: this ISN'T Fleetwood Mac, and we're not playing by the usual formula.

I do agree with the poster who said playing the Buckingham solo songs to start the show was unnecessary. More FM obscurities or a solo Christine song would have been welcome.

Interesting. I didn't read that as he shot it down. Just not as doing it from July-August 2013, which is when the 2013 tour break was.
I wonder what venues they could've played at that time. I know Stevie played Fantasy Springs casino in 2013. I suppose they couldve done Jones Beaches & Hollywood Bowls types.

https://www.soundonsound.com/techniq...feel-about-you

I came across this article this evening. A long, detailed piece with Mark Needham. It is really fascinating if you are into how music is made, recorded, and mixed. Some general things we knew. They record a lot of the guitars and basses DI or direct into the recording console and not through amps. On the other hand they did basic track a lot of the music live - guitar, Hammond Organ, bass, drums. We also know that Lindsey loves to layer tracks. And Pro Tools have given him nearly infinite expansion capabilities.

But did we know how much ---???

Feel About You was 189 tracks including 44 drum and percussion tracks and 76 backing vocal tracks.

It is a long and for many an overly detailed read that will be boring. But I thought a few of you might enjoy it as I did.

That’s a ridiculously unnecessary number of overdubs.

44 drum and percussion tracks...

'... It might be somebody tapping a hand on a couch. In fact, there are a lot of couches on these tracks!'

They stepped up from chairs to couches.

I think less may have been more. Particularly on this song....as much as I love it.

Every artist has the way they create art. For Lindsey it is very much building track upon track. I love that, others don't. I don't criticize Sturgill Simpson for cutting an album in 2 weeks. That is how he makes his art.

It is mind boggling how he can keep track of so many tracks. (pun intended) After all this is just one of 10 songs and god knows how many others in various states of build. What he hears is very different from what I hear, but he is for sure one of the most course driven musical ideologues of the last 40 plus years.

But when he works for someone else it can be very different. The Killers talked about how he came in laid down lots of guitars, worked his layering and varispeed penchants throughout the song and 11 hours later he was done.

I for one love the music for what he is. He makes songs that sound like no one else, in way few others do and they become distinctly his. Sure, I have my preferences, but I so appreciate his gift and am very thankful that he and Christine gave us one more round of original music that for all intensive purposes was Fleetwood Mac.

(and they even tracked as a foursome, good luck finding the basic tracks in the mix)
