Also, get the Lennon Anthology if you don't...it's the most brilliant collection of music ever.

Thank you! I appreciate good music advice, and so far you've given me nothing but great advice, so again Most of the time I am pretty smug about how good MY music taste is, but then I get a cold slap in the face and a wake-up call and realize something I had been missing for years and someday I will be slapping someone with XTC and The Flaming Lips, but this is a JOHN thread, so I won't digress

I mean, POB is a work of art. In undergrad I wrote a fantastic paper arguing the significance of POB as a confessional piece of musical art in the 20th century. It was a one-of-a-kind, never done before masterpiece. I can't praise it enough. POB is so different from the Beatles that it really shook people up a little and, obviously, some even stopped following John in favor of Paul because Paul's stuff was pretty Beatle-lite. I would go with these next... 1. Double Fantasy stripped + Double Fantasy remastered 2. Walls & Bridges 3. Imagine 4. Rock and Roll 5. Mind Games 6. Milk & Honey 7. Sometime in NYC 8. Live Peace In Toronto 9. Lennon Anthology box 10. Lennon compilation that has all his songs including singles released **after this I would start looking for some hard-to-find demos, man. There is some BRILLIANT stuff out there. I have some if you want and I'm happy to share.** John is da MAN.

Well yes, I agree, that is pathetic, but I DO have more John, just **sheepishly** it's somewhat of a copy, but I have Anthology [Box set] , Greatest Hits and others, plus I have the real deal of Sean's Friendly Fire CD/DVD, Into The Sun and Half-Man/Half-Horse...does that give me any points back my good music trading friend has been slacking lately

Also, owning Sean gives you tons of brownie points. Tons. Sean is John's more innovative offspring, so just on that alone you earn tons of points. If you'd had Julian's stuff it wouldn't count until you at least bought Imagine. So, which are you going to buy next? And have you decided yet to purchase some Julian stuff? Come on!

Ugh. I LOVE the POB songs on Anthology...some even more than the album versions. I can't lie. JL Anthology trumps everything I've bought since. Except I was almost equally mesmerized with Double Fantasy stripped. I have passionate love for that album as a whole, period. It's so great. John's solo music has always inspired me. It's stunning.

Yikes! For a moment I thought you dreaded those first nine songs for some reason...whew! Well, looking back at the tracks, they are all amazing. You can't have one without the other three, disc four has all the great DF stuff, with cute little Sean adding his contributions

I know a lot of people get sad, depressed, melancholy when thinking of John's music in those last years. I understand that. It's tough to come to grips with his death, even for those of us who were not old enough to realize it. But I try to appreciate all we got from him, which is so much. Most people's favorite artists...you normally choose an album or three and maybe have a total of 30 songs (if that) that you love and listen to on a regular basis. But with John there was so much more than just 30, and almost all of it is perfect. I realize he isn't here to make music now, which I'm sure he would be doing with great fervor, but so many of his colleagues are putting out utter tripe that it doesn't make me feel that bad. Anyway, those are all amazing songs. Be My Baby, Real love, My Life, Freda People, Luck Of The Irish...there are so many wonderful gems to choose from on there. It's a must-own to be frank.

Incredible!!! I must go. And even though I work on that day I must find a way... Oh and btw Mr. 3rd World Man this is a John Lennon/Beatles-related thread. I see you trying to slip in some random videos of your favorite band but let me clarify that we need to stay ON TOPIC here:
