It's almost painful...
... to go back and listen to the late-1990s Stevie/Mac concerts now.
I was thinking that today while listening to the Enchanted show currently posted at http://www.angelfire.com/music6/crystalillusions/ This is not a "Stevie's voice sucks now" thread. It's just that when I listen to a show from the Dance/Enchanted era, I can't help thinking about how excited I felt about Stevie and Fleetwood Mac's resurgence at that time, and also how (comparatively) optimistic I felt about the direction of our country. We had a president with a brain, people had jobs, other nations didn't hate us. That's one of the great (or bad) things about music -- it reminds you of the times in which it was created. And of course, the band and Stevie in particular were performing with such fire in those days. It's thrilling to hear her nail every high note in "Twisted" and "I Need to Know" with such ease! She's still singing well now, just not with the same passion. Oh well, thanks for reading my little nostalgia trip! |
