Rumours will get the Glee Treatment!
A friend just sent me this article. Looks like Glee will do an entire Rumours episode next season! Is this real life?!!

The worst news in the history of Fleetwood Mac. Yes, worse than even the Clinton campaign.

Why so negative? This is a great thing. You can only sell the same product to the same fans for so long. Look at the huge boost Glee gave other bands/singers. It's going to introduce Fleetwood Mac to a whole new generation.

This is a good thing. It will bring more exposure to Fleetwood Mac, which seems too hardly get any, anywhere.
May take on the matter... Edit: Looks like this topic is also on the Stevie board with 20 something replies. I wish...eh never mind... Last edited by MacShadowsBall; 03-17-2011 at 01:30 PM.. |

I know there's hesitation and no one wants to hear the songs butchered...
But seriously this is HUGE exposure (which, I guess may not be what everyone wants for FM). Think of the other themed Glee episodes: Madonna, Gaga, and Britney. All of those got MAJOR media attention. For them to do Rumours is a pretty big deal.

I can't see myself watching this, but the band will make money. Could sell more concert tickets next time they tour. Good publicity.

Forcing the songs from Rumours--of all albums ever--into a sitcom narrative is a dangerous form of pop history revisionism. It threatens to divorce the songs entirely from their emotional, aesthetic, material, and historical contexts. These are dark times.

The very last thing I want is to see ignorant kids putting their Katy Perry and Justin Bieber on pause to attempt to listen to Rumours. I think what bothers me most is Songbird, it shouldn't even be touched by Glee. My life is going to suck when I'm surrounded by people that don't even know them saying "OMG I love Stevie, Lindsay, and Kristen! Oh wait, which ones a guy? Oh their the ones that covered Landslide, rite?" >.<"

Ehh, doesn't matter to me one iota whether or not this happens. I didn't watch Glee for Landslide, and I won't watch it for their take on Rumours, either.
In the end, it's good the band is still being placed before younger folks. The world needs to be reminded about/introduced to Fleetwood Mac for the band to keep going.
