I don't remember -- probably MARY POPPINS or something by Elton John, like CARIBOU or CAPTAIN FANTASTIC.

oh my....I can't even remember why I bought this, I think it was the fun of actually having the money to be able to by my very own LP! I do remember it being a good one though.

Ahab the Arab, can not be read. It must be listened to to fully appreciate the emphasize & parody of it's words.

My first purchased LP (kiddies...LP, not cassette or cd.....) was the Superman soundtrack. Was a big deal. I couldn't hum you one note of that album if I tried, but at the time, it was a major deal.

45...was I think either Ring My Bell by Anita Ward or We Are Family by Sister Sledge. Purchased at ye old Mart of K. lol. Remember they used to have a MUSIC section? Actually there is this K-Mart in the Santa Cruz area, and I swear to you everytime I have gone in there, you can still find imports things. Last time...atleast 2 years ago, they still had a Chain Sampler...from Australia. How random. Great other Ca/US record places...Gemco. Anyone else recall those?

Matchbox:matchbox summer 1980
Matchbox:midnite dynamos christmas 1980
Matchbox:riders in the sky spring 1981 (actually traded it for the comic book)
Matchbox:Flying colours spring 1981

Anybody wanna guess which was my favourite group at the time?
Still have those records.
FM connection here is,
few years ago i bought Stevie Nicks' the Wild heart and it had the sticker on it showing it had been originally bought from the same shop i bought those records.

After becoming a serious Kiss fan in 1984 i started buying records more frequently
first one being Kiss:Rock and roll over
by the end of the year i had bought a massive 5 records!
well, just, last two i bought on new years eve.
All Kiss records.

I've no recollection which would've been my first 45,but it must've been
either a Kiss,Iron maiden or Dio single.
Few years ago i reached 1000 lp's with Emmylou Harris:Cimarron
My latest lp is Mahogany rush:IV

My first cd was Queen:A day at the races in 1989
And just recently i bought my cd #1000 with Suzanne Vega:99,9*f

being that my mother is an avid antique collector (and seller), the majority of my childhood was spent in antique shops. the only way she could get me to stop asking if we could leave was to send me to booths with records and tell me to pick out what i wanted. i picked albums by their covers... albums with names or song titles that i recognized.. etc. so i don't really know what my first LP was... i've literally had tons of records my whole life.

i'm thinking the first LP i spent my OWN money on was k-tel presents "The Magic of ABBA"

i think the first CD i spent my own money on was Ace of Base - The Sign

... apparently i have a thing for the blonde/brunette swedish 4-somes. nah.. it's probably just the infectious nature of dance music that i like so much.

I've been getting gads of cd's from this friend of mine that has a book store, and buys up vids/cd & books @ estate sales & such. Recently while going thru box #100 (easily...LARGE boxes w/ atleast 100+ in each one) I saw that this one box had easily 40 singles of Ace of Base. I had NO idea that they had that many singles, or remixes. There may have been a few dupes in there, but I'm gonna say w/ the covers and such they were all different. Was your stuff sold @ auction? lmao. jk! In hindsight...I grabbed the "All that she wants" single. Ok, I'll fess up, that was a great song when it came out!

I missed the LP generation. And I can't remember the first CD I bought. But these are the first LPs I have ever bought from the Flea Market.

Santa brought me my first cd player in 1992 so i was 12 at the time. And the first CD I bought was Roxette and the album was Look Sharp. I loved it.

But my mom has told me that my first ever was when I was 3 and I cried and cried till she bought it for me and it was a single record Boy George - Karma Chameleon.

I remember loving 3 albums growing up as a child from I was about 5 Springsteen - Born In the USA. Dire Straits (the album with walk of life on it) and Fleetwood Mac Rumours.

Previously, I posted that my first purchased album was Pat Benatar, but this is actually the first album I bought. And it did have actual music on it. I have not heard this song in 25 years, but I knew every word when I listened to it earlier tonight. Gotta love Wonder Woman and Batman's voices.
