Mick was not there first off...Stevie was phoning in from rehearsals..she said she watched AI..and votes,lol..and that she is thrilled about Landslide, and that everytime it gets played she gets money,lol..she actually said "cha ching" i think...she didn't say too much about the album..other than wait til we hear it...and that she missed Christine and her british sense of humor..
and about renting 737 jets and stuff...it was a really cute interview

Stevie interview
Wow what a personality. How could you not love her...she really knows how to pour it on. She could have had a career in sales for sure(and I mean that in a good way ).
Some interesting points, I thought She took a month and wrote four new songs specifically for SYW. Stevie said she didin't want to use just old songs for the new record. I don't have the tracklisting of SYW handy but did any of these new songs make it on the record? I know "Smile At You", "Illume", and "Thrown Down" would not be considered in this particualr group of four "new" songs. I'm thinking "SYW" would be ONE. She loves songwriting more than ANYTHING. This gives her the greatest pleasure in life....much like a writer of books. Sheryl Crow was the one who suggested "Landslide" to the Dixie Chicks...........I always thought that was Natalie Maines idea. Stevie misses Christine everyday and in particualr her English sense of humor. Stevie made references to Chris not wanting to tour anymore(something she never wanted to do) although Chris was still open to recording with the Mac. In a somewhat ambiguous way Stevie said that that would just not work. If Chris had a hit how could they tour and not perform the song. So it sounds like the band/record company made the decision to tell her, well if you don't want to tour then we respect your right to "quit". She watches American Idol religiously. She said that if she was twenty she'd be down there auditioning too. Her advice to the ones rejected.....never give up, don't stop trying until you believe it's just not going to work....there's always going to be someone who doesn't like what you're doing. Good advice if I do say so myself! Stevie sounded great in the interview...full of life and verve. Joe Last edited by jwd; 03-07-2003 at 07:24 PM.. |
