Lindsey Buckingham concert review
by Fredo

Well, Mr. Buckingham earned a 5/5 last night in Atlanta. The one thing I can do with a guitar is fingerpick it properly with an alternating bass and a melody on top. So naturally I look down on people who fingerpick differently (like LB) or can't fingerpick like that at all (Paul McCartney). Last night, Lindsey used his fingerpicking style to lay out a beautiful, rich tapestry of notes. It was gorgeous. Apparently he was looping a lot and I didn't f-ing catch it (alcohol) so no doubt that helped with the tapestry. I thought he might struggle with his voice. Wrong. His voice was fantastic for the whole ~80 min show. I read a review of a different show in which the crowd was so loud Lindsey had to ignore the dynamics of his song and play and sing everything loudly for the whole show. Last night was totally different. He played and sang so softly at times it was almost like a whisper. The crowd was dead silent. Fantastic. Lindsey played with no band, and used backing tracks for some of the electric numbers, all of which contributed to a very intimate show. Naturally people expect performers to tells stories in shows like that. That part didn't work too well. LB seemed a little nervous and forced telling stories. Fortunately, story-telling was kept to a minimum. Also odd was that the one number that didn't seem to work was Go Your Own Way. LB's mistake was playing it right after the epic power-ballad I'm So Afraid. The show gets five stars anyway. So in case it isn't obvious, don't miss Lindsey Buckingham.

A question to anyone who's seen LB recently. What's the first electric number he does? Whatever that song was it was great.

He's talking about Come?

My stepdad (not a LB fan, but he likes FM from his youth) went with me and he said that his favorite pieces were the ones Lindsey played on the classical (I know that's Big Love and Go Insane, not sure of any others he did because I wasn't paying attention). He also mentioned that he thought the electric tracks would probably sound amazing with the 4-piece because they'd have a little more punch.. and then he said Go Your Own Way was good but the absence of the harmonies was really noticeable.

We didn't get home till after midnight cause the interstate we were on had all lanes blocked and had to go around our ass to get out elbow. So I had 4 hours of sleep and worked 9 hours today. But it was all worth it!
Yay!!! Can't wait to see pics & vids!

Just finger calluses from playing. That's good to know.
That and I guess what I would call fingertip bruising
(there is a difference) is no big deal at all.

Arthritis is what had me worried about him. I hope I'm
wrong, but I believe Stevie suffers from it. And it's not
just her hands.

yeah i was happy to see that seems to be the case too. after reading what CAD and Nancy and some others have heard him say, my understanding is that some of his calluses have softened up (a month of too much swimming in the saltwater and not much guitar playing maybe?) and now he's getting blisters again. i really hope it doesn't become an issue for him and blows over fast.

wonderful pics - love to go through them fast and see the succession of movements (but they are photos not screencaps, right? they are way too clear to be screencaps).

Yeah I used a sport continious setting on my camera. I have a Nikon Coolpix L110. But I know nothing about cameras. My brother bought it and decided he didn't want it and gave it to me and I gave him like $30 bucks and bought him a Lindsey shirt and called it even.
I'm uploading videos right now, but I haven't even got done with the first one. It's being really slow.

I'm not a member of facebook. I can't view these pics. When I click on the link it does not connect me to your facebook page.

Default Stephanie

I'm sorry it has taken me so long. I gave up on Not Too Late, it was only as 33% after about 15 hours of uploading. This took 6 hours. I'll try and do my last two.
