I had a professor in college, who was trying to write "environment" on the board, and she was stuck, stopped, laughed, and told us she'd always had trouble with that word.
Once I told her the word IRON was in the middle, she thanked me, and said she'd never forget how to spell it again. Do normal people think of words like that, or is it just me?

No, I think that's a pretty common mnemonic device. One of my grade school teachers used to tell us to remember that there was "a rat" in "separate" (as opposed to the incorrect "seperate").

And let's not forget science class and remembering the colors of a rainbow, in order.

Well, I'm a horrible speller. Sometimes, I'll use spellcheck before posting. However, there are a few words that I have ways of remembering how to spell. For example:

Dialysis = Dial? Why sis?

That's cute, I realize. However, analysis is just plain dirty.

I'm SOOO musically f*cked up in the head. Even though I played trumpet for 9 years, and started college as a music major(with excellent grades, btw), I'm completely self taught on guitar and keyboards. So, I've got all these tricks in my bag, that I have no REAL idea of what I'm really doing(did that make sense?). I've been asked dozens of times to give guitar lessons. I just explain to them that since I've never had formal lessons, "you don't need my bad habits!".
